A Shepherd in the Flock - James Hunaldo Evans
Foreword
––––––––
Praying and preaching is not just reading or memorizing the psalms and gospels of the Scriptures. Although this is an important part of the Christian life, it is also very necessary to learn to speak to God from the heart to seek in Him true spiritual healing.
Poetry is communicating emotions through images in order to establish a connection with the divine. I am one of those who think that God manifests himself every day, in the little things. Prayers, sermons, parables, songs, and poems are (in some way) a form of manifestation of the Lord who wants to be heard. When we speak to Him, He also speaks to us with those same words.
This devotional book you hold in your hands are prayers from the heart of a shepherd who wants you to see Jesus with the same eyes with which I see Him every day: a close and kind God who offers us many ways to feel relieved.
Its style of writing, modern, fresh, close to orality, makes this book a devotional of the new times, accessible to new and old generations.
These verses and thoughts are an ode to love, brotherhood, faith, hope and the belief that God is always everywhere, even in those turbulent moments. We are not alone, never. Jesus is with us, always.
I invite you not only to read this book, but to sing its verses with me. My greatest pleasure will be that you too will be encouraged to speak to God in your own way, in your own words. After all, that is what prayer is all
