Gabbi's Heavenly Visitation - Tracy Henderson

    CHAPTER 1

    GABBI'S FIRST DREAM

Have you ever been all tucked in your bed asleep when suddenly you get the feeling you are not alone? Blurry eyed you half wake up only to see a non-threatening figure standing at the foot of your bed. The figure you see in front of you looks like a man. He appears to be tall and has his hands invitingly outstretched to you. Instead of being frightened, you have a yearning inside you to go to the man and see what he is all about.

This happened to a girl named Gabbi. Gabbi is an eight–year–old girl that has a heart of gold. She has never met a stranger in her life. Everyone she meets she likes, so it seems. Even when a person is mean to her somehow she can find good in them. People always tell her she has the disposition of Jesus. Meekness was his best suit people constantly tell her, and according to them, she fits that role to the tee.

The day of her dream was no ordinary day. A girl in her class was having a bad day. Boys were picking on this girl and calling her names. This did not sit too well with Gabbi because she saw this girl was hurting inside. She walked up to the boys and asked them to stop picking on the girl. Instead of walking away, the boys started calling Gabbi names. They kept telling her meekness is a weakness. Gabbi, Wabbi, meekly Gabbi, they kept calling her. Instead of getting mad Gabbi just took it. After the boys walked off Gabbi began talking to the girl.

Gabbi found out the girl's name was Olivia. Olivia lived in the poor part of town with her mother and two younger sisters. They just lost their father in a boating accident two weeks ago. Olivia's father was out on a fishing trip with two of his best friends from work. The driver and the other passenger were drinking. Olivia's father was a devout Christian and was not drinking. All of a sudden the boat hit a huge rock and threw the passengers out of the boat. Olivia's father reportedly hit his head on the sharp rock, killing him instantly. The other passengers survived. Olivia was very bitter because her dad died and they did not. She questioned God and was mad at the world. One of the boys that were making fun of her was the driver of the boat's son. To make himself feel good about the situation he made fun of Olivia.

I don't know why daddy had to die, Olivia cried. He didn't do bad things, she said. Gabbi tried to comfort her. She told her that things do happen for a reason. God had his reasons for taking your father, Gabbi said. It's not fair. It's just not fair, Olivia cried. Gabbi talked to Olivia for over an hour trying to comfort her. They ended up becoming best friends because Gabbi comforted her.

That night while Gabbi slept something happened. She was awoken by a feeling someone was watching her sleep. Gabbi is the kind of girl that does not like the dark. She always sleeps with a light on in her room. This night was no different.

She tried covering up her head with her Frozen 2 blanket. She thought this weird feeling would go away if she remained hidden under her blanket. Much to her disappointment the feeling was stronger than ever. Her mom always tried to teach her to face her fears. As hard as she tried she could not get herself psyched up enough to try and face this fear. Something or someone was watching her, and she knew it.

She weighed her options carefully. I could scream for mom or dad to come into my room. If I did that they could get hurt, Gabbi thought. She could hurry and jump out of bed running for the closet, but then she could get hurt in the process. Finally, she decided to face her fears. Reluctantly she slowly uncovered her head.

When she did she saw the figure standing at the foot of her bed. The figure was a man. He looked to be in his thirties, what Gabbi considered thirty. He was tall with brown hair down to his shoulders. He was an inviting gentleman. He reminded her of the man down the street that sells candy. He did not scare her at all. He made her feel special. This man had both hands held out inviting her to come into his circle. As she looked at his hands, she saw what looked to be nail prints in them. Where had she heard about nail prints in someone's hands? It finally clicked. She heard the Sunday School teacher talk about them.

You are Jesus! Gabbi cried out. Yes, daughter I am Jesus, he said. You did a very noble deed today Gabbi, Jesus said. His words made Gabbi wonder what she did that was so noble. Jesus read her thoughts. When you befriended Olivia that was noble. She was hurting because her dad has went to be with my father. The dad of the boy that was making fun of her caused the accident and he lived. See Gabbi, he had to make fun of her because that made him feel better about himself. His dad is going to face trouble with the police and he cannot handle that. Jesus said. All I did was try to make Olivia feel better, Gabbi said. "Yes, Gabbi, you did what I would do. Your mom and dad taught you
