Chapter 1

Living life to the full

I’m Greta, the second oldest child of eight. When I found out my mother was expecting again I was worried, knowing she nearly died giving birth to Mark just over a year ago. I could tell she was fearful herself and helped as much as I could to ease her burdens.

I lived high on the Moors of Yorkshire; life was difficult, sometimes dangerous as the weather can change at the drop of a hat. But the rugged nature of the land was its beauty.
