Author

Lisa Barry

Lisa Barry Growing up in Florida was not a good enough reason for author, Lisa Barry, to avoid wearing black. A daily color choice, Lisa constantly pines for cool enough weather to wear her boots. Living with her supportive (and hot) husband and amazingly awesome kidlets, Lisa counts it a blessing that they still love her despite the deafening sound of her music muse throughout the house. Writing and reading every minute she can, Lisa counts on her cats to keep her keyboard warm and on the countless gargoyles who stand guard throughout the house to ensure the safety of all those who enter with good intent. The gargoyles listen carefully when Lisa reads to them aloud.

    Chapter 1

Opal opened the door of the cab and slid into the darkness inside closing the door and breathing a sigh of relief. Finally.

Ah… she said rubbing her eyes in exhaustion, Can you take me to the Georgia Circle Hotel, please?

I’m sorry miss but I already have a fare.

Glancing to the side, Opal was shocked to see a man sitting next to her. She averted her eyes as soon as she noticed the lines and curves of his face, her heart gave an extra beat, a cheer for looks that were bright as the sun despite the dim car. She had also noted the amused smile on his handsome face.

Oh my gosh, Opal exclaimed. I am so sorry. She moved to open her door.

Hold up, the man said as he raised a hand. His caramel smooth voice continued, "You said you were going to the Georgia Circle?

Opal grimaced realizing she had just told a stranger where she was staying. Although if he followed her she wouldn’t actually mind.

He smiled, and Opal recovered from her haze of weariness enough to really look at him. Dark auburn hair fell haphazardly on his temples but was shorter on the sides. His dark eyes were slightly curved and seemed to sparkle as he looked at her. His mouth was full, his facial features perfectly formed. He rather looked like he was ready for a photo shoot in an Armani ad, suit included.

It’s on my way, why don’t we share the ride? I don’t mind at all.

"Well, if it’s not an inconvenience, that works
