My Wife Knows Revenge Is Only a Baseball Moon

Thank you for picking up my poetry book, “My wife knows Revenge is only a baseball moon” The title showcases three poems in the book, the first, middle and last poem. “My wife knows what is red and what is right” is a poem about the genocidal methods taken up against Native peoples. My wife is of Maidu heritage. “Revenge” is a tongue and cheek look at Medusa, with a chorus of lyrics of a hard rock song. The final poem is “It’s only a baseball moon” about a relationship seen through baseball terminology by an avid, hockey fan. Revenge

Medusa combs her hair with half-eaten fish bones

listens to the drowning pool.

Let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the floor.

Medusa tosses her head back and laughs, pushes little statues of mermaids

off the vanity, to shatter into pieces off the side of an over filled tub.

There’s nothing wrong with me, there’s nothing wrong with me.
