It's a Heart Condition - Karen S. Johnson
Positive vs. Negative Thinking
Numbers 13:25–14:4; Deuteronomy 1:23–40
After reading the above scriptures, I made a list of positives and negatives in my life. I was amazed at my discovery. The positives outweighed the negatives! As I sat and looked at the lists for quite some time, I finally asked God, What is wrong with me? What is my problem? Why do I feel so down? Where is my joy? Why don’t I have peace and joy in the midst of my storm? God answered me. It’s not about what you have or don’t have. It’s about your walk with Jesus, your trust in His will for your life, His provision and His direction. It’s taking one day at a time, giving praise for completing a task before moving on to the next one. It’s trusting God in every area of your life, every situation you find yourself in. It’s giving thanks every day, not just for the big stuff but for the little stuff as well. I encourage you to make a list of positives and negatives in your life and read over them carefully. I guarantee God will answer.
Lord, help me to be positive in the midst of the storm, to give thanks for what I have each day, to trust You no matter how things may seem.

Judging Others
1 Samuel 16:7; Isaiah 11:3–5; Psalm 1:1–2; Acts 4:5–11
God’s standard on judgment isn’t about the appearance or actions of a person but the intent of their heart. Only God knows the facts and condition of one’s heart. Our judgment is based on what we see and hear without actual details. God’s judgment is fact-based. Ask yourself where the basis for your opinion is. I discovered I was judging others without facts. I was getting caught up in the gossip around me. What was I doing? I wasn’t giving this to God. We don’t know the struggles someone is dealing with. Don’t be quick to judge; God will reveal the motive of a person’s heart. Judging others and making your opinion known say you are better than they are. We are not. John 8:7b says, If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.
We are all sinners. We all make mistakes. We all need forgiveness, compassion, mercy, and grace every day.
Lord, help me to keep my opinions to myself. When I have an issue with or about someone, help me to bring it to You. Open my ears so I may hear Your still small voice.

God Will Show Us Ourselves
2 Samuel 12:1–4; Philippians 2:1–11
God sent Nathan to King David to open David’s eyes concerning his sin with Bathsheba. God will do the same thing for you. He will use people and situations exactly like or similar to yours to show you yourself. When their words cause discomfort, anxiety, annoyance, or just plain ticks you off, it’s God’s way of showing your sin, your attitude. Don’t be judge and jury over a situation; pray for healing. God knows everyone’s sins, yet He gives us grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Your attitude should be the same as Christ. Ask yourself, What would Jesus do in this situation? Your response should be in-line with God’s Word. Think before you respond or react in every situation you face. Change starts with your thoughts and the condition of your heart. Set your mind on things above. Only when your mindset and heart are focused on Jesus will you be able to react in a positive, productive way.
Jesus, help me keep my eyes on You, Your will, Your ways.

Mindset
Philippians 2:1–5; Colossians 3:12–17
Our attitude should be that of Christ Jesus. We should have love, compassion, and mercy for others that Jesus has for us. Are you compassionate toward others? Do you show mercy? Do you care only about your way, opinion, or gain?
