Lord I hear You - Connie Spearman
The Journal for intimate conversations with God
Introduction
In my personal experience, daily journaling has created a space for me to reflect, reset and rearrange my thoughts. If you’ve read my book, Lord, I Hear You, you know I’ve survived it all — depression, panic attacks, stillbirths, a nearly fatal car accident, and lots of debt.
I am grateful that God brought me out and enlarged my territory, so I can share my story. I hope what you’ve read so far has encouraged you in some way to stay the course and listen for God’s instruction in the midst of a storm.
This creative writing tool single-handedly changed my life. Sometimes, when I couldn’t go to people and I couldn’t hear God, I would write in my journal. Ultimately, that daily exercise of journaling helped me focus and clear my head. Those daily journal entries became the accumulation of stories that years later became the chapters of my first book.
Every time I was in the middle of a storm, I kept a record of everything in my journal. I wrote down the dates, my feelings, what I heard from the Spirit, and eventually, how God brought me through the situation. Now, when I’m feeling hard-pressed by life, I have a collection of testimonies in my journals that I call memory stones
to remind me that all things are working for my good. This cumbersome time in my life shall pass.
This journal will help you recalibrate your spirit for the next 90 days. When writing is done in transparency and truth it can serve as a form of meditation, therapy, and healing. I hope within these pages and prompts you find permission to peel back your emotional layers and seek God in the most intimate ways. Write to Him and tell Him all about your pain, your worries, your fears no matter how ugly you may think they are. Maybe, you feel like, metaphorically, your house is burning down… Let God create beauty with the ashes.
Hearing from God requires a lot of intentionality, patience, prayer, silence, vulnerability, and honesty. You must open your heart and ears
