A heart that is true to the hopes that you have,
A heart that knows Love through happy and sad,

What Hope Looks Like
On a starry, calm Christmas Eve night
when church bells toll and hearts are light,
I dream of riding in Santa’s sled
and toss about restlessly in my bed.
At last, when others have fallen asleep,
slowly down moonlit stairs I creep
to perch in shadows on the bottom stair
and wait as Christmas lights dance on air.
And wait as Christmas lights dance on air.
…and wait as Christmas lights dance…
…and…Christmas lights…
…Christ-m-a-s…
Suddenly, the wind whistles and blows.
Do I hear a sleigh swoosh through the snow?
Is he in my house? Or is this a dream?
And, then, I see Santa. ~~His eyes softly gleam.
As he places gifts beneath our tree,
I tiptoe behind him quietly
to stow myself in his sack full of toys,
hidden by gifts meant to bring Christmas joy.

When he lifts his bundle over his back,
Santa smiles at his heavy sack,
but soon we’ve settled in the bright red sleigh,
and Rudolph leads us up, up and so far away!
Sliding the sack beneath one eye,
