About this ebook
Have you ever wanted to be on a winning team? A team that scores big and wins championships. A team with members who work together and always have each other’s backs. A team that has a common goal and depends on each other on and off the court. God designed and chose us to be on just such a team—His team of winners. He selected us to wear His uniform and represent Him in the daily game of life.
While God called us to be on His winning team, we often still feel like losers, like we are second stringers not fit to take the field. Life’s challenges beat us up and push us down. We get in a slump and find it hard to pick ourselves up to get back in the game. The opponent loves to see that happen! But God has a game plan in His playbook for overcoming such obstacles, and that is why the team concept is so critically important on our path to victory.
30 Days of Victory will support you in understanding your role as a vital member of the team and help you see yourself as the “all-star” that God created you to be! Daily stories with a God lesson, scriptures, and reflection questions will support you in developing into the winner that God intended you to be!

DAY 30
This book is dedicated to the memory of our superstar Dan Henry (June 14, 1961–January 8, 2019). He ran his own race, he marched to his own beat, and he crossed the finish line far ahead of us. We miss the energy, the life, and the light that Dan brought, and we rejoice with him as he is receiving his eternal reward and ultimate victory!
I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.
—2 Timothy 4:7–8
Dear Worshiper,
Thank you for the chance to join in your adventure of practicing His presence. Welcome to 30 Days of Victory.
All of us have been on a team of some sort in our lives. We competed against another team and either won or lost. Team is defined as a group of people working together on a specific task.
By definition, it is true to say that all Christians form a team. We are a group of people who are called by Jesus to work together, with the common purpose of carrying out His will on the earth.
As we embark on this monthlong study, we will use the team analogy as a symbol for the two groups of people described in the Bible, believers and unbelievers, referred to here in the context of two teams, Enemies and Saints.
Making the team is easy, but only champions will passionately pursue His game plan.
We believe that daily study of the Word, prayer, and personal reflection are critical components to becoming a champion worshipper. This devotional is designed to encourage your study and exploration of the Word, stretch your skills in self-reflection, and challenge you through the practice of accountability.
You should set aside twenty to thirty minutes a day to complete each devotion. Ask a friend to partner with you in this thirty-day pursuit. Encourage each other, push each other, laugh with each other, pray with each other, and, above all, worship together. And then watch in amazement as He allows Himself to be caught in your passionate pursuit of His presence.
Blessings, my friends,
MJ and TH
DAY 1
Choosing Sides
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
—Revelation 3:20
To launch our thirty-day pursuit, let’s begin at the end, the book of Revelation, the glimpse of the final score.
Do you remember as a kid looking forward to recess at school? We couldn’t wait to get outside for a break and team up for epic battles on the playground! Whether it was kickball, Wiffle ball, football, or red rover, every game began the same way—the choosing of teams. And, of course, everyone wants to be on the winning team!
In real life, we all start out on the team we’ll call the Enemies. It’s an unfortunate fact, brought on by the fall of mankind way back in the beginning. People are born sinners, and sin separates us from a holy God. But when we believe by faith that Jesus died on the cross for our sin, was buried, and rose again, we have then been drafted onto the team called the Saints. Revelation 3:20 tells us that Jesus wants us on His team. He is choosing us, but it is up to us to accept (open the door), join the team, and let Him be our Captain.
Until the end of time, the Enemies will continue to compete against the Saints. Sometimes it will appear that the Enemies are winning. The Saints will have times when they feel like they are on the losing team. But the Bible tells us that the scoreboard at the end of time will reflect a crushing defeat for the Enemies and glorious victory for the Saints!
Have you chosen sides? If you have believed and received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you can rest assured that you are on the winning team!
