About this ebook
Some experts may conclude This scribe's endeavor at wit In prose or poem or blues Proves eccentric and dogmatic, And recklessly candid. The only credential offered To even qualify as a writer's factor Is his longevity Thereby claiming expertise In life, and the pursuit of solvency. Many, many odd years This Allen George has appeared Muttered, puttered, and cried Truth and justice from his eye That the equality of all must apply. Therefore, with this admission This muse politely makes submission Of his quips, bits, and fits About personalities, themes, and events In the world that mortals rent.

The Muse of A.G. Lamont - Allen George Lamont
Smiles and Styles
I bounced up this morning,
Cheerful as the spring.
Ready to embrace,
Whatever may be my fate.
The day was extraordinary,
Every passer-by smiled hello;
Surely all plans will exceed the ordinary,
And success follow wherever I go.
Aging Rut
I’m forty-nine
Believe it or not
It’s all in the mind
There’s that rut.
This matter of aging
Is a never-ceasing issue
All humankind facing
It’s silly deluge.
Time marches on
Someone has said
Maybe Time stands still
Is the better alternative.
The young are impervious
And perhaps the exception
The middle age so: nervous
At thoughts of looming rejection.
We want it both ways
Someone may say
Looking thirty-five
For as long as we’re alive.
Pet Mates
My Kitty is a kitty cat
My Doggie is rude as doggies get
I wish I had more space
To play with my pet mates.
When my canary starts to sing
The Guppy swims much faster
If the Hampster jumps through rings
The Cockatoo shakes with laughter.
There’s squirrels in the neighborhood
Turtles and rabbits too
They will often sneak into the house
Like snoopy critters do.
Yes, my Doggie has a silly yap
My Kitty is moody between naps
They simply need more space
To play like wee pet mates.
Dreamland
Last night I went to dreamland
I traveled by myself
I needed no one else
Because I know Sandman!
Of course I can fly
In my nocturnal journey
Or come back alive
After I die.
I am king of everything
In my marvelous romp
Answering the most puzzling
No villain can ever daunt.
So, before I awaken, I plan to
See my friend
Mounting sleep, counting sheep
As ever clever Sandman.
The Win
It looked bad
At the game yesterday,
Nine to four the score,
Seventh inning melee it was over.
The coach looked grim
At his team of rattled men;
01’ Ben walked three,
Loaded the bases, hurt his knee,
It was sad.
It was tight,
