He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary. And the young men shall utterly fall. But those who wait on the Lord shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

    —Isaiah 40:29–31

    Introduction

Being told you have cancer has a magnitude effect on situations in the normal everyday life; problems that seemed so enormous are now frivolous. The entangled everyday hustle and bustle comes to an abrupt halt. The things that were so important before are now the most unimportant. Relationships are immensely put to the very top of the list.

I realized that I have taken advantage of having friends and family in my life. The relationships that I took for granted are precious jewels now being soaked in like a giant sponge. Things start to look different—looking outside from within a diseased body, not knowing what tomorrow will bring.

I am now grasping the fact that I am sick and may not be able to recover. Time goes by and I am weaker by the day. Not only is there cancer, but also I learn that this is the least of my problems. It seems that my past has caught up with me and I am now falling apart, literally. What will happen to me?

Have you had a dream that would reoccur night after night, and you would wake up and remember every detail. I did; this dream was right after I moved to Cleburne, Texas, and first started my journey with the Lord.

I was in a big city, and I could see this cloud that went as far as the eyes could see from the east to the west, and everything it touched was destroyed. People were running for cover everywhere, in the hopes of finding a place to hide, but no place was found. I knew in my dream that it was the Lord coming, and I was telling them that it is Jesus, repent! Give Him your heart and ask Him for forgiveness before it is too late! Some people would get down and pray to the Lord, while others would shove me and tell me I was a fool. I was crying to the Lord, Please let me tell them about you Lord before they die!

I would wake up with my face soaked with tears and broken heart because I could see the truth in this dream. Our time on this earth is coming nigh, and it is time to lead the lost to the cross. We as Christians are to reach out to the ones who are out there in need. It is not our words that save them, but the words that Jesus gives to us at the appointed time.

That is the work He gives to us. I am ready to do my work. I am ready to help.
