She awakened from what seemed to be a bad dream. As she stared around, she noticed people around. Some she recognized and a lot of them that were total strangers. She was trying to remember what happened to her. All she remembered was seeing headlights from a hovercraft then hearing a bang and feeling a sharp pain to her head. Then there was nothing. What happened that night? she thought, trying to remember, asking herself Why can’t I remember? My god, what happened to AJ? Is he all right? Where is Stin? Is he okay too? Her thoughts were running wild. Some real, some seeming too unreal. What the hell happened? she thought. Sunshine fell into a deep sleep.

Hey, Sunshine what are you doing tonight? AJ asked.

Hell, I hope to get fucked up. Do you think you can score some Moesaeaq?

Yeah I can, girl, but do you think you really need to get fucked up tonight? I mean, you stay fucked up all the time. You probably need a clear head for a while.

Who do you think you are, my dad?

No I don’t, but—

Of course not. If you did, you wouldn’t give a shit like that sorry son of a bitch.

Hey listen, I didn’t mean to sound like I am trying to tell you what to do. I am just worried about you. It seems you’re always fucked up, and you are looking pretty bad lately.

I appreciate it. I really do, but the only time I can forget my shitty life is when I am fucked up. So can you or can you not score some Moesaeaq?

Sunshine, you know I will go to Jupiter for you. All you have to do is ask.

I am not asking you to go that far. And anyway, I heard it is a fucked-up planet.

Well, Arthur James Snyder, don’t fuck with me right now. I am PMS-ing right now, and I am liable to fuck you up if you keep it up. And I can give a shit less about those Zantarians.

Okay, okay, let’s go right now before you get really bitchy.

Damn, you’re such a conceited bastard.

AJ and Sunshine took his hovercraft from Mars Colony 9 to Section C. The difference between a colony and a section is that a colony is part of the government of Mars called United Mars Organization, UMO for short. A section ruled by lords who are mostly tyrants and who have little laws to govern their section. There are 103 colonies and 10 sections, but only three major sections.

Section A was controlled by an earthling named Jake Manson. He controlled only one subsection under him. Not too much was known about him other than that he could never go back to earth, and that is nickname was the Snake.

Section B was controlled by a Martian named Torri McZines. Torri controlled two subsections under him. Torri could be described as the devil of Mars. He was very daring and was constantly at war with Section A and C. He also enjoyed starting wars between the subsections under his control. He claimed he was one of the original natives of Mars.

The Lord of Section C was a Jupiterian named Zack Arkin. Under his section he controlled four subsections. Zack was the same age as Sunshine, eighteen. Looking at him, one would think of a young punk rich kid who never had to do a hard day of work. Zack was the opposite of what he seemed. A lot of people who misjudged his clean, innocent looks ended up dead. Zack was not a troublemaker, but he had no problem taking care of trouble when it came looking for him.

AJ and Sunshine drove up to Zack’s security gate. AJ rolled down his window to press the intercom button.

May I help you? a voice replied.

Yes, is Zack at home? AJ asked.

May I ask you to put your hand on the scanner and identify yourself?

AJ pressed his hand on the scanner. Arthur James Snyder.

Thank you. Now have the female do the same.

Ralph, I know it is you, so I will make this short and sweet. I would ask her, but she is not registered with Zack.

Sorry, Mr. Snyder, I cannot let you enter with her even if I want to. The security laser system will not permit you to enter with her without her being registered. But you can ask her to go in the confinement room and wait, Ralph answered him back.

I am the one who created the system, so I know what it will and will not allow. So how about this, go get Zack and tell him I am here so he can override the damn system.

Mr. Snyder, I will do as you ask, but Mr. Arkin will probably still not let her come in.

If there is going to be any trouble, I can wait in the confinement room here, Sunshine responded to AJ.

That will not be necessary, me and him go way back, so don’t be concerned about it.

Mr. Arkin is overriding the system, and please accept my apology, Ralph informed AJ.

Not a problem, Ralph, AJ responded and turned toward Sunshine. See, I told you, Sunshine, there is no trouble.

It was three years ago when AJ was twenty-two, when he met Zack. AJ used to be a top-notch scientist back on earth. He was best known for making the TriHypo drive that enabled humans to make a space trip to the Zantarian Galaxy, to go from a two-month trip to a two-week trip. He was the main scientist for the United Earth Association Defense (UEAD). He used to love working there. He felt pride in helping earth in keeping up with the other beings’ technology, so that earth would not be conquered by some other planets who would prey on the weak planets and make them part of their empire. Little did he know at the time that earth itself was looking on expanding its territory into a region that was just discovered at that time.

AJ invented a solar energy blaster known as SEB for short. This device on a big gunner spaceship could take out an entire fleet of war spaceships. He never finished making the version for the big gunner spaceship because earth used its invincible field to take over Aquarius, a planet in the Quadlin Galaxy. The invincible field was a force field used to protect soldiers and ships. There was no weapon in the universe that could penetrate this type of force field.

Aquarians were peace-loving people, who believed life was a holy thing that no one should take, except for the Almighty. Many beings tried to take over this planet because it was filled with a natural resource called Liquion. Liquion looked like water that could be used as a super fuel. This fuel was so potent that when used in a Hypo drive it gave it the power of a TriHypo drive. Every attempt to take over the planet failed, because of the Aquarians’ defense technology. Aquarians’ weapons were more advanced than any other beings. These weapons did not kill their enemies but incapacitated their enemies instead.

The earth invasion was different because of the invincible field. The Aquarians’ weapons were useless, and even though their weapons imposed no danger to the earth’s soldiers, many Aquarians were killed, and the ones that survived were used as slaves for mining Liquion.

AJ was so appalled about the invasions that he left earth with the plans and the only prototype of the SEB and ended up on Mars. AJ also came up with a device that could cause interference to the invincible field and sold it to all the other beings. Because of this device, the earthlings lost control of the planet Aquarius to the Zantarians, and the Zantarians lost control to the Jupiterians. These wars kept going on until the Aquarians were able to take back their planet. Because of this, the Aquarians turned from a people who held any being’s life as a precious gift to a very violent group of people. Most terrorists that plagued earth were from Aquarius. Who could blame them for what they became? Because of earth they lost their way of life, and when they finally took back their planet the resource Liquion was used up, leaving the planet’s climate harsh. Their planet was once a green and peaceful place and represented the way they lived. Now the planet became a harsh desert with little respect for life. And as just like before they represented their planet.

Torri heard about AJ and his SEB. Torri decided to pay AJ a visit at his office in Dead Town. Fortunately for AJ, Zack heard about his abilities and decided to see if he could use him on his payroll. Zack walked in on Torri and his men as they were trying to convince AJ to sell the plans and prototype of the SEB the hard way. Zack and his people came to the aid of AJ, quickly killing all of Torri’s men. Only Torri escaped. Although AJ turned down Zack’s offer to pay him for building weapons for him, the two became good friends.

Ralph led AJ and Sunshine to the library where Zack waited. What’s up, buddy? Zack asked as he and Sunshine walked in.

Nothing much, Zack. I was wondering if you could sell me some Moesaeaq? AJ responded as the two shook hands.

Hell no, but I will give you some instead of selling it to you.

I appreciate it, Zack, but I wouldn’t feel okay with you just giving it to me. Besides, how are you going to make any money by giving it away?

Money, money, money. Is that all anybody thinks about? Look around, I live like a king. Hell, I live better than a king. I live better than a fat, lazy Sabintian. Therefore, my friend, I think I can afford to give some away. So how much do you need?

Since you insist on it, I need a triple snake eyes.

You got it, man, but I guess it is for your girlfriend, unless you started taking drugs, Zack said looking Sunshine up and down.

I’m sorry, Zack, this is Sunshine. She is a good friend of mine, and yes the Moesaeaq is for her.

So Sunshine is it. I am Zack, lord of Section C. Actually, I am lord of the whole fucking planet, he said, introducing himself to Sunshine.

Nice to meet you, lord of the whole fucking planet. I am queen of all the fucking bitches. So am I supposed to be impressed by your introduction?

Ouch, AJ, she has a bite. I guess not, my dear, but most women are.

I am not most women.

Definitely you are not. Ralph, go get the Moesaeaq, and make it quick. I can see she needs her medicine before she really gets bitchy.

I am a bitch whether I am high or not. But you are right, I am a bigger bitch sober.

I bet you are. So, AJ, would you two like to stay the night? It is getting late, and I would like to talk to you about something important.

Well, I didn’t really plan on it, but I really do not feel like driving home, so I guess I could, AJ answered Zack.

Would you two like the same room or separate rooms?

Separate rooms, he answered.

Ralph walked into the room with the bag of Moesaeaq and handed it to Sunshine. Ralph was an older man in his fifties. He had been with Zack since his father died. Zack thought of Ralph as a father figure more than a butler since it was Ralph who raised him ever since he was six. Although Zack treated him more like a servant, he loved him more than anything in the world. Zack sometimes thought he should treat him with more respect, but the fact was that he was his father’s butler, and when he inherited his father’s estate, he also inherited Ralph. Even when he was six, Ralph was still the person who was there to be ordered around and to get what he desired. Ralph, prepare our guest’s rooms.

Right away, sir, the old man responded.

Thanks for the Moesaeaq, Zack, Sunshine said.

Not a problem, sweetness, he responded, looking directly at her breasts.

My name is Sunshine. Not dear, sweetness, or anything else. Just Sunshine. So you will know, my eyes are located on my face, not my breasts.

I am sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you. From now on I will remember that was his response, then he quickly tried to change the subject. By the way, Sunshine, is that your real name?

Since you’re writing a book, yes it is. My dad named me. My first name is Sun, and Shine is my middle name. However, I prefer to use Sunshine as one. Since you are going to ask, my last name is Dae. That is d-a-e, not d-a-y.

I see. So I guess when you were born you were your dad’s sunshine.

Yeah right. My dad never gave a shit about me. He can die and rot in hell. Her voice sounded angry.

Whoa! I didn’t mean to bring up any bad feelings.

Don’t worry about it. You didn’t bring anything up. I don’t think about every minute of the day! Sunshine said, looking tired and strung out. It is getting late, and I would like to go to bed.

Sure thing, sweetness. I mean Sunshine, he said, catching himself. Zack pressed the intercom button. Ralph, would you come in here and escort Sunshine to her room? He will be here in a minute. Since you are waiting, would you like a nightcap? I have some special Zantarian brew.

Actually, I am fine. I would just like to get some rest.

You do need a good night’s rest, Sunshine. You haven’t slept in days, AJ butted in.
