About this ebook

The Bible says, "For where two or three have gathered together in my name, I am there in their midst." Marcus, a cocky nonbeliever, struggles with the fact of a divine creator. Being married to his wife, Stacy, who is, in fact, a die-hard Christian, still doesn't help his faith in God. He turns his back on Christ, leaving him open to spiritual demonic attack. Sometimes God has to let you dwell in darkness and take away the things you love in order to see the light.

This story is dedicated to my sister, who passed away from breast cancer: Tracy N. Richard, September 09, 2015. She was a lover of horror and suspense movies and stories.

And I thank God for blessing me with the gift to create something for many to read. Thank you all for reading, and I want to thank my two nieces, Trenisha and Tori, who took time to read and give me feedback right away. Thank you both!

    Prelude

If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray, and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that. All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death (1 John 5:16–17).

    Acknowledgments

First off, I would like to give my praise and heartfelt thanks to God for allowing me and blessing me with the gift of creating stories for people to enjoy. And I want to say thank you to my mother and father, my mother for reading my whole manuscript in one sitting and my Father for reading many of my stories and for his faith in the Lord.

I want to thank my two nieces for showing their excitement on my book, letting me know what they think, and catching some fast typing errors I’ve made. Thank you very much.

I also give my thanks to my sister, who helps bring me out my shell, preparing me on speaking publicly. I witnessed her public speaking skills. She’s a marvelous speaker. Thanks to my cousin, whose lawyer skills sprinkled wisdom down on me, for being a fan of my writing.

To my friends and fans, thank you all for reading and supporting God’s kingdom. May blessings pour upon you all. Finally, my new publishing home (Christian Faith Publishing), thank you from the bottom of my heart. All you guys took the time to explain and show me through the steps of my book, and, most importantly, thanks for making my dream to publish an affordable reality

Thank you all once again. May you all prosper!

    Chapter 1

Shut up, Stacy! Enough about all this Jesus talk, Marcus said, swiftly walking back inside their new home followed by his wife.

"I can’t believe you’re treating me like this. We just moved into our beautiful home and been married for a week Marcus!

    Both stood quiet.

All right, I’m sorry, Stacy, but you know I’m not a man that believes in a God or Jesus. He now put both hands over his head, slowly rocking side to side.

Babe, you promised you’d try to see my world. Don’t you love me? she said in a little baby voice, with her lip poked out, showing her big beautiful blue eyes, making it hard to say no.

Smirking with his eyes lowered, he ends up chuckling. Come here. All right, you win. I’ll see your world. You think your church would let me in? Since, you know, I’m black, ha-ha. He burst out with laughter.

Ugh, not funny! I told you it’s not all white. Besides, heaven is going to be full of different colors.

Marcus rolls his eyes. I’ll grab the rest of the boxes. Just go head and rest, okay, babe?

Two hours passed. Marcus flops on the couch next to his wife.

    Are you hungry, hun?

Very! Let me go shower, though. Now hopping up, he runs down the hall into the bedroom.

Cutting the shower on, he begins to sing while taking off his shirt. Steam from the hot water covers the mirror bathroom. The door was partially open, and from the corner of his eye, he notices a figure moving out of view. The hell is that! Startled, he zips up his pants, walks out the bathroom. The closet door was also half open. Marcus takes a deep breath, reaching for his bat, which was lying by the bed.

He now slowly approached the door.

Babe! Stacy said, peeking in the room from the hallway.

Oh shhhhezzz, girl! Both his hands were squeezing the bat.

Didn’t mean to startle you, baby. Just letting you know I ordered food. Is everything okay?

Feeling stupid, he drops the bat. Yeah, yeah, I’m good, swore I saw something. Clearly it’s my eyes playing tricks. Laughing off the awkward moment, he jogs back to the bathroom.

Stacy smiles and heads back down the hall.

Later that night, the couple indulged in Asian takeout. Like a starved man, Marcus slurped up the noodles with rage.

Whoa, babe! Ha-ha! Someone is hungry, she
