About this ebook

Horace of the Forest Horace is a nice young goblin who shares the haunted forest with an assortment of mouthy, rotten monsters. Every day, they bully him until he's so sad and mad that he wanders out of the woods and into a neighborhood where there are friendly monsters everywhere! But when Halloween is over and the last jack-o'-lantern flickers out, things will never be the same! The House at the End of the Street Because of her wrinkled appearance, she would only come out at night. No one knows that someone actually lives in the house at the end of the street. Cronelia W. Brew is a 200-year-old witch whose magic isn't what it used to be. Forgetful and mixed-up, she casts ridiculous spells, makes a real mess out of everything, and creates the silliest creatures you could ever imagine! But sometimes, just being yourself is all you need to make magic happen all around you! A Different Kind of Halloween Set in a small rural town in a community where everybody knows one another, the kids are always active in some sort of outdoor activity, or they learn to create their own fun. This is an endearing story about two little boys (brothers, in fact) and their dog, Holly. Why do trick or treating with your friends every Halloween when you're old enough to go camping by yourselves in the woods down the road? Hunter and Haydn are very brave, but will Mom and Dad even let them go? Will their friends understand being left out? Will it be a Halloween like all the others or A Different Kind of Halloween?

    Chapter 1

    Beware the Woods

Once upon a Halloween night, deep in the woods where it’s always wet and smelly, there lived the ugliest goblin any living or dead creature had ever seen. There were other creeps and freaks that slinked about the forest, but none were scarier or uglier than Horace.

He was as tall as a seven-year-old child but, otherwise, looked like costume and makeup from a scary movie. He walked on two feet that were webbed like swim fins, with long curling toenails. But as humans have two arms with hands attached, Horace had three. His mouth was on his forehead, and his skin, decay gray, was cool and scaly like that of a lizard’s. But what stood out the most was the one large glowing eye that popped out from the center of his chin.

Horace had never looked at himself in a mirror, for they were banned from the forest a long time ago when vampires could not see their reflection. The monster committee ruled that if everyone could not look at themselves, then no one could!

Werewolves would smell him nearby, creep up, and howl loudly. Each time, it scared the life right out of Horace. Wicked witches flew over daily on their brooms, cackling and teasing him.

One lazy afternoon, the sun was peeking through the dense treetops from above. The sight made Horace want to curl up on his favorite dead log and take a nap. Just as he was about to do so, three
