    Bags of Gold

    Matthew 25:14-29

    So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you. (v25)

    Although we ought to know our God is a great master, fear keeps us in hiding, paralyzes us, and doesn’t allow us to live in the fullness of the nature of life God intended us to live. You were created in his image, formed in his likeness, saved by his grace, and then bestowed in your new life of righteousness with his nature. You were created to walk in the nature of God. Feelings of inadequacy or fear of failing keeps us from pursuing a life of that nature. Our bodies were given to us by Him, and they still belong to Him! In this parable, we see clearly when he revokes the gift given to the lazy servant and takes away even what he had. He gave us these beautiful, powerful, and incredibly adaptive bodies, and when we don’t use or care for them properly, they become riddled with disease and fatigue. These are not the result of punishment from God for laziness, not at all! Simply a natural wear-and-tear. Jesus, as the master, gave talents or sums of money. The NIV says bags of gold. You and I often forget how valuable we are in the sight of the Lord, so much so He gave His only son for us. First, begin your fitness journey understanding…You are gold!
