Reviews for Dune

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is one for those already steeped in the expanded Dune stories. It is clearly the middle connecting tissue of a trilogy set within a larger story and wouldn’t work as a stand alone story as you need to be both familiar with the characters and preceding events. But if you have read it’s immediate predecessor, Duke of Caladan, then this is a strong continuation of that story as events start to take even darker tones, I’d even say there’s more than a hint of a Macbeth influence at play here, while we also learn more about several familiar characters and uncover some of the seeds that inform their ultimate actions.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I thought that this was a fantastic addition to the series. You definitely learn more about the Lady Jessica and what lengths she will go to in order to protect her son. The writing felt very true to the Dune series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book left off on more of a cliff hanger than the Duke of Caladan did so I am definitely looking forward to the next book!
