Vampire Diaries John F. Kennedy Set Free - C. Free man

DIARY ENTRY 1: August 2, 1943 at Midnight

Tonight me and my crew were out on the patrol torpedo boat PT-109 with two other boats when the Japanese destroyer Amagiri, reared its ugly head like a mighty dragon and butted our boat causing a unavoidable collision. As a result I went careening of off the decks and plummeting into the dark depths of the Pacific!

The darkness hid my fangs and I swallowed water and blood from my wounds and the injuries of my crewmembers. The boat caught on fire and the flames ignited one of the crewmen catching his uniform on fire. He shrieked like a woman in labor as the flames devoured his mortal flesh. I bit him sinking my fangs into his neck to prevent his death.

In the dim light of the night I swam leading my crew to one of the Solomon Islands near New Georgia in the Pacific. We felt the hot pursuit of the Japanese ships and their torpedoes in the black bloody water. They were like sharks circling a wounded prey. We could not have fired the one torpedo because we were hit and abandoned ship too soon to let her rip! All was lost in the darkness of a dreaded and deadly night. The vampire urges swelled in my veins as I pulled the burned crewman to the island with a life preserver held in my fangs.

The metal ceremony was ritualistic and solemn. JFK seemed ascetic and somber, for two of his crew had perished in the catastrophic event. The self-denying and altruistic act had garnered John much attention.

His father had pulled some strings with his status and military connection to get him into navy intelligence. Now it seems someone powerful had seen to it that John would receive several metals and commendations for his bravery. Soon this event would be touted as one of the noteworthy war stories of World War II. It allowed a man such as this to rise to the occasion and do what was most difficult at a time when it would have been easy to give up.

Though the crewman that John saved was bitten and turned into a vampire to save his life the military did not acknowledge that hidden fact. John later received a Purple Heart for being wounded in World War II. At the Marine and Navy medal ceremony the announcer lauded the medal upon John with much adulation and proclaimed these words:

"For extremely heroic conduct as Commanding Officer of Motor Torpedo Boat 109 following the collision and sinking of that vessel in the Pacific War Theater on August 1-2, 1943. Unmindful of personal danger, Lieutenant Kennedy unhesitatingly braved the difficulties and hazards of darkness to

direct rescue operations, swimming many hours to secure aid and food after he had succeeded in getting his crew ashore. His outstanding courage, endurance and leadership contributed to the saving of several lives and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service."

After the proceedings were complete JFK exited the massive marble and wood paneled room. As he glided past me in his dress blues he paused to acknowledge my presence. I snapped some pictures of him and he flashed a cheeky smile in my direction. JFK seemed to have a love affair with the camera, the media as well as the ambitious pursuit of fame, honor, respect, and achievement. Congratulations on the medal John!

    Why, thank you Christophe.

Call me Chris please John, no one ever calls me Christophe anymore.

Funny, you'd say that Christophe is an old French name and I have a fondness for all things French. Oh, by the way there is a young woman named Bouvier. I would like for you to meet John.

Oh, Charles already introduced her to me at a party. I should like to talk with her again, in depth. I can arrange that you see her again John, I'll call you.

The two of us were closer friends than we actually realized. John left the ceremony amid the intermittent snap of camera flash bulbs. Soon John and I were in the back seat of a taxi speeding away toward the Kennedy family home in Bronxville. I had been invited to stay with him and his family to be his biographer. Here was one of the diary entries that John shared with me from his childhood growing up first in Brookline Massachusetts near Boston then in a mansion near Riverdale, Bronx in New York City as well as the more suburban Bronxville, New York.

    Friday September, 1927

I started school today at the Dexter School. This is an exclusive private school for young boys but many of the boys have been bitten. They walk only in the night and speak only to those boys who have also been bitten.

Today I learned what the vampires of Boston want so badly to keep hidden. They are all bitten and forced to search for blood. All the elite and popular boys in the school have been turned into vampires already. If I want to get the approval of my peers I may have to go down the same bloody crooked path that they have all traveled.

At the Edward Devotion School I learned to pray in public now I prey on boys to bite. I learned how to give thanks for my many blessings. This sort of discipline had prevented me from being pulled to a darker side. There was a temptation to be made into a vampire even in the very beginning of my schooling, but I gave myself to fearful prayer and pushed the whisperer's voices away into the night.

JFK seemed to be captured in thought as we arrived at the house in Bronxville. The massive estate was surrounded with sprawling greens and extensive gardens. We walked slowly toward the front door careful not to irritate the injuries that had been inflicted to John's back in the war. The heavy oak door creaked open swiftly and his mother Rose greeted us with a jovial smile.

    Joe, Honey Fitz, John's home.

The ceremony was momentous, I enjoyed it immensely! Dad, I just wanted to make you proud of me.

I am John, I'm very proud, of my son! Hey, I'm a real war hero now.

Yep, and all because you went and got your boat sunk by the Japs.

"I tell yah dad, the night that destroyer hit my boat was one of the best and worst nights of my

    life."

Well, now that you've had your first taste of success how do you like the spotlight John? I love it actually.

Well, then John, now that your father here, has jumped head first into politics as mayor of Brookline and made a decent living at it why don't you try it?

I see you've made a great living at politics dad, just look at this 20 room house we call our humble abode.

Well a man has got to have a place to hang his hat and politics and religion have brought this family all of that, John

Our cup runeth over huh, dad, and the respect we get is great too! Yep, certainly is, politics is something like a family legacy now.

I see dad and you would naturally expect for me to capitalize on the family name Kennedy and run for congress like you did?

Of course and I want you to carry on the family legacy. "Right you are, and I will
