Chloe Holiday

Chloe writes the things she loves to read: steamy, fun stories about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, smart women and men who aren’t jerks. She likes writing about friendships, whether it’s close women or a good bromance. She wants to bring all the feels: the thrill of a smoldering gaze or the barest brush of fingertips, the shocked gasp at the underhanded villain, the angst of heartbreak, the joy of reunion, and of course, happily ever after! Chloe enjoys a sneak peek into intriguing groups, and her background in the military, medicine, aviation, and other experiences lend realism. It’s fun to live vicariously and go sailing, diving, or rock climbing. A bit of danger always gets her going, so many of her stories have a thriller or suspense subplot. Choe loves humor, great banter, and embarrassing situations. Love is funny sometimes! She hates to read the same old thing, with only the names and places changed, so her goal is to bring you a fresh, fun, NEW story every time, with NO CLIFFHANGERS! More than anything, Chloe wants to bring readers a rollicking, great story they can’t put down, where love prevails in the end, that whisks them away from their own tribulations. Desire in Deutschland - Chloe Holiday

What he needed was more time around this woman, with her sexy accent and cheerfulness. I’m glad you were available. I was tempted to just stay in today.

Birgitte laughed, a warm chuckle. "Sometimes you have to ignore your innerer schweinehund and make yourself do something."

Lee frowned, picking apart the words. My inner… pig dog?

Yes, your inner pig dog. You don’t say this? It’s the thing that makes you want what you want, even if it’s a bad idea.

Lee laughed. I’ll remember that one. German is more fun than I thought, with all those words strung together. He watched the road curves ahead, instead of staring at her legs the way his pig dog wanted.

    Down, boy.

Lee smiled. My innerer schweinehund is strong. Very strong.

    Praise for Chloe Holiday

"Helios walks the line of a...romance while offering bits of a third wave feminism into the mix—it would make for a fascinating literary study. The writing is crisp, fun to read, and perfectly crafted…and offers that transportive, foreign fling that can whisk readers into another world. Also—can't forget this—how deliciously scandalous!"

Submerged Hopes whisks the reader to Greece for a wonderful romance, rich in details ranging from Greek culture and history, to underwater archeology. I especially enjoyed the realistic portrayal of a Deaf female lead who knows what she wants and goes for it, despite language barriers and cultural conflicts. Holiday’s writing is crisp and evocative, creating characters and a setting that stay with the reader long after the story ends.

Fly Boy  is just what I was looking for when I found myself craving a juicy romance.

Masterfully told with her signature wit and humor, Holiday delivers. When the agendas of a strong, sassy heroine and a sexy, disreputable hero collide, sparks fly.

With a compelling storyline and engaging characters, Fly Boy is perfect for anyone seeking a feel-good romance.

    Chapter One: Jinxed

The cool metal bleachers shook beneath Birgitte, even in the nosebleed section of the stadium. A red-and-white sea of soccer fans rushed the field, roaring in delight at the hometown win.

Her brother Stefan leaped to his feet, fists raised to the sky, whooping, Kaiserslautern! He swept her into a hug, overcome with team fervor.

Get off! Laughing, she pushed him away to keep her white sweater clean—Stefan wore more makeup than she did today: thick white paint across his forehead with red shorthand lettering proclaimed his allegiance to the Kaiserslautern Red Devils football team.

A mistake. When he let go, Klaus, on her other side, took the chance to squeeze her, though Birgitte suspected it had little to do with the win for die Roten Teufel. Her brother’s friend followed her around like an over-eager puppy, nosing for any scrap of her attention.

Let go! Birgitte glanced at the thinning crowd, plotting her escape. I’ve got to get back to study. Between university and the looming deadline for the interior design competition, free time was a luxury she didn’t have.

Come to the pub with us, Klaus wheedled.

Birgitte was not going to encourage him. I can’t—

But you must! Naturally, Stefan jumped in. Just for an hour or two. It’s good for you to get away, and soon we won’t be able to walk for all the Oktoberfest tourists. Jürgen and Tobias also chimed in, insisting she join them.

    But the design competition—

Two beers. Only two, Stefan cajoled. Who knows, maybe you’ll meet someone.

Birgitte glared at her brother. He knew she was done with men—more like jinxed, actually—but the quickest way home was through the pub, looked like.

Verrückt—crazy—to argue with Stefan when football was concerned, and she had worked hard on her contest entry.

Would it be enough to place?

She tamped down her dreams of achieving recognition, instead swapping them for the hope of a quick getaway. Birgitte shrugged. Fine. Two beers.

Ja! Stefan slung an arm around her shoulders, and they ambled out of the Fritz-Walter Stadion, singing the fight song for die Roten Teufel. Outside, they slammed the schnaps Tobias smuggled in, and took the shuttle downtown. They marched up the sidewalk toward the pub, drunk with victory, and Birgitte fell back, giving distance as the men shook red-and-white scarves above their heads, raucous.

Two beers. And then I’m out of there.

    Chapter Two: Culture Shock

Saturday morning, Lieutenant Lee Klein rubbed his thumb over the first international stamp on his passport: Germany. I’ll add twenty more over three years, he promised himself. He stowed it in the lockbox in the closet and glanced around his new apartment. Sunlight gleamed on the bleached-oak tones of the faux wood flooring, and the piney scents of cleaners lingered in the air. The familiar loaner furniture from the military base–a scarred wooden coffee table, a tweedy beige couch, and a small maple dinette table with mismatched chairs–contrasted with the dinky stainless fridge, barely bigger than a dishwasher, and horizontal white bars of German rouladen shades in the windows.

He’d completed his military in-processing yesterday and taken possession of his new K-town place this morning. Now the weekend stretched ahead, empty except for Sunday dinner with his new commanding officer, Captain Graham, and his family.

It would be an affair of mutual obligation: Graham welcoming him to Germany while Lee praised the food and made small talk. The man’s wife would get the worst end of the deal, cooking while juggling two little ones.

I’ll bring her flowers and presents for the kids, eat fast, and get the hell out of their hair. God knew she probably didn’t see much of her husband. Military police worked protracted shifts.

His own long hours would start soon enough, and he sure as hell wasn’t going to waste a free weekend before he reported for MP duty Monday.

Lee glanced around his place again. Stark and minimalist, almost spartan, though it was nice of the landlady to leave a small television for him. He opened the little fridge and calculated the space for the beer-to-food ratio–he’d have to get groceries later. It would have been easier to live on post, but he’d promised himself if he was stationed in Deutschland, he’d live there: Eat the food. Travel. Meet the people. Not hide on base.
