FOREWORD
Iam neither a speaker nor a writer. My strength lies in Chess Game, Astrology and Suduko. But here I am with a pen and a paper (The most traditional way) offering this book to my family and friends.
It was my daughter, Radhika Narasimhan, in the year 2017-18, who insisted on my writing this subject and she helped me to post it in my blog chandralakshmi.wordpress.com.
As the response was tremendous, my wife insisted on bringing it into a book format by my 70th Birthday!
As I have no other choice but to oblige the two most important women of my life today, here it is!
I thank Radhika Narasimhan, my daughter, who was the force behind me to write.
I thank my wife, . Kanthalakshmi Chandramouli, for continuously asking questions to register the past events, which may fade away gradually.
I thank my grand-daughter, Ms. Vaishali Narasimhan and my son-in-law Mr. K. Narasimhan, for their silent support and understanding of my health issues.
In the first few chapters, I have given the history of ‘Problem Chess’ which might be ‘little too much’ to
readers. The next chapters talk about my involvement in ‘Chess Problem’.
I sincerely thank my younger and favourite brother, Mr.
G. Ramakrishnan, whose visit I look forward to everyday. He is the one, who had worked tirelessly for 2 years to bring out this book.
"Ramu, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continuous support to me and my family.
May Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy shower His Grace on you and your family and give you all the Health, Wealth, Prosperity and Peacefulness."
I thank my cousin and 2nd generation senior son-in-law of Guruguntala family Mr. Venkatasubramanian for correcting this book and enhancing it.
I thank Mr. K.G. Jawahar, a well-known Tamil Journalist, who was the first person to interview me. It was a big hit and ‘Dinamani’ was flooded with calls. A moment to be proud of!
I thank the leading magazine ‘Amudha Surabi’ and its then Editor, Mr. Kannan, who published my article.
I thank ‘The Hindu’ for the excellent support given to ‘Chess Problem Column’.
I thank Kavimamani Thiru. Ilaiyavan, for asking me to write in his Tamil magazine ‘NIRAI’ about ‘Chess Problem’.
I thank ‘The Times of India’ and its staff for the excellent support given to my columns.
Today I am in the age group where my eyes wander to the ‘Death Column’ to find out who has left for heavenly abode, yet the attraction of ‘Suduko’ is much more interesting!
After all I am a man in love with Numbers.
