About this ebook
The author has written a book filled with a blend of fictional and nonfictional memories. As Hope lived her life, she listened, watched, and remembered stories of people, places, and times. She has continued her story of the little girl with the magical mark and her special friend named Penalope from the magical forest.
The story starts with her recollections of a young girl that becomes involved with a strange middle-aged rabbit lady. Penalope had been trying for a hundred years to wish her into the magical forest. Only those who have "the mark" can see or hear Penalope as she tells her strange and unusual stories.
Hope describes the magical box that the little girl secretly kept her five little fairies in throughout her childhood and the love she had for them. Now the little girl has grown into a young lady who has secretly left her mother's house behind and must find Penalope once again. Penalope is able to know her wishes and is once again able to find her, but this time, she is alone and is sleeping on a bench in a beautiful park. She finds herself wished back into the magical forest and hears more wonderful stories and drinks Penalope's magical honeysuckle tea.
Once again, she is sprinkled by the good spirit and gains strength before going back to the human's world and starting her long and often dangerous journey. The little girl is suddenly back in the park and now meets up with three unusual friends. They join her long mysterious journey as they listen for directions from the "whispers in the wind" and are warned not to follow the fake messages and evil humming made by the tree frog that wants to capture the five little fairies.
The dangerous journey was filled with surprises as they listened for the "wind's whispers" to direct them to the right path. Penalope has sent some friends from the magical forest to help the little girl find "the fishing pond" and the big old house with the blue roof!
Hope wrote this book for the young and young at heart and hopes you are captivated by the characters and fictional path the story is based on...or was it?
The beautiful drawings were all created by Dr. Joseph R. Whiting. The photographic images were all the copyright work done by Hope Atwood Dayhoff (the photographer). Her business name is Pictures and Poetry since 1993.
