What Makes an Abyssinian Great for Families or Singles?
Since they may be found in ancient Egypt, the Abyssinian cat is one of the earliest breeds of cats. They are stunning creatures with long, slender ears, an arched neck, finely formed eyes, and a sleek, muscular body.
While some cat enthusiasts think the name Abyssinian
comes from the country of Abyssinia, now known as Ethiopia, which was once thought to be the origin of the breed, it is much more likely that the name, while derived from Abyssinia, simply refers to the nation from which the cats were first imported to Great Britain in connection with the frequently held cat exhibitions.
Although this kind of cat isn't typically thought of as a lap cat, it does develop strong attachments to its chosen humans and is passionately devoted to them.
It would be preferable to think about getting one of these cats for a family rather than a single person's home because they are not content if left alone for extended periods of time, unlike their other feline cousins. A lonely cat will quickly start acting inappropriately, such as soiling carpets or beds in an attempt to get attention.
This breed of cat enjoys being spoken to and given the opportunity to slowly get to know new people while being treated as a member of the family. This cat is not friendly with strangers and will frequently become invisible
by hiding behind or beneath beds or other big pieces of furniture when guests arrive.
Families occasionally lament the fact that Abyssinian cats don't typically qualify as lap cats because they prefer cuddling with people, especially kids.
The cat more than makes up for this by being inquisitive and constantly curious around humans and by acting as a buddy on an equal footing as opposed to a cat that is placed on a lap just when it is convenient and otherwise placed on the ground at the owner's whim.
Although no cat, domesticated or not, is particularly good at obeying, the Abyssinian is noticeably independent and strong willed—some may even call her pig headed! Long claw scratches and scraped paint are frequently the outcome of an Abyssinian cat's hours-long attempts to open a
