Thomas Crawford, a graduate of Stanford University and George Washington University Law School, was a U.S. Navy Officer, practicing attorney for many years, and is a self-taught artist. He and his wife, Caroline, and their family are long-time residents of San Francisco, California.

Baseball evokes childhood, summer, sandlots, statistics, Casey at the bat, Ring Lardner’s Alibi Ike and, of course, The Babe. It is America’s game and, I suppose, baseball means pretty much the same thing whether you are from Georgia, Maryland, Ohio or Texas. However, memories or visions of Major League players (whether seen or imagined at play) are shaped more by age than geography.
