About this ebook

During the Great Depression, the cash prizes offered for dance competitions lured hundreds of young people to literally dance until they dropped.

Alice and Henry traveled to Fargo determined to outlast all the other couples, dancing for days without more than momentary rest breaks. Alice's old nemesis Dorothy strives for the same goal.

But that many people killing themselves to get that much money? Guaranteed to draw cheats and con artists with their eyes on the prize too.

"Dance Til You Drop", a story of endurance and pluck set in the Great Depression.

But as the farmer's old truck bounced past field after field, each more or less exactly like the others, and nothing looked different from what she was used to, she had found herself bitterly disappointed. Then the rocking of the truck had lulled her off to sleep.

But the changing of the sounds around her woke her with a start. The road under the tires had a different whirr to it now. She looked up and saw steel girders spanning the road overhead.

Then she looked down and saw the river.

We're in Fargo! Alice said to Henry, who was sitting beside her in the back of the truck.

Nearly, he said, finger-combing the dark black hair out of his eyes, but as he was sitting with his
