Learning the words is like, whatever, that's not how second language acquisition occurs, but it's fun just spending time with the fruits and vegetables and insidiously instilling the notion in your kid's head that maybe what he wants to eat today is a nice fruit or vegetable salad (not that my kid's a bad eater, but I am nevertheless always gratified when he chooses salad over ketchup mess), and that end might as well be pursued in French I guess.

I liked this book because of the interesting plot and the colorful illustrations that went along with the story. The book told a story of three rabbit brothers, but focused more on the youngest brother Jimmy, and the fact that he did not like to eat fruits and vegetables. I found this to be a bit ironic, since rabbits are known for eating vegetables, primarily carrots. Instead of eating his vegetables, Jimmy ate a bowl full of candy without permission, and suddenly shrank down to the size of a mouse. The plot was interesting because Jimmy found out that eating fruits and vegetables would help him return back to normal size, and he discovered that he actually really liked the taste of fruits and vegetables! I really enjoyed the illustrations because they were very bright, and eye catching. For example, there is a picture that shows each detail of Jimmy trying to reach for the candy bowl. One picture shows Jimmy standing on the chair, yet he is unable to reach the bowl. The next picture shows Jimmy standing on top of a pot that he put on the chair. Then the following picture illustrates Jimmy standing on a cookbook, which is on top of the pot, which are both on top of the chair and he can finally reach the candy bowl. Overall, the pictures are not only colorful but extremely detailed. The main idea of the story is to be less judgmental, especially when it comes to eating fruits and vegetables. Jimmy assumed that he did not like the taste of fruits and vegetables because they were considered to be “healthy foods” and he only wanted to eat candy. Lastly, I liked how a modern fantasy story is able to teach a valuable lesson when it comes to health and nutrition.
