I was born in a small town in Western New York, being the youngest of seven kids. I was a typical kid growing up and now find it ironic that I enjoy writing so much as relaxation when I hated English in school and couldn't wait for it to be over. I mostly write Sci-Fi stuff as that is where I am most comfortable. I started writing what I called a Sci-Fi novel over ten years ago, but could never just get the right drive to actually write it. Just before COVID struck, I sat down and delete almost all of the 5 pages I had and started over. That night I wrote thirty-six pages before finally going to bed. I never figured I would ever write romance or even poetry, but in the short story part I published, I actually found it pretty easy. The poetry ... not so much. I struggled with it. But as my wife reminded me, if you set your mind to it, it can happen. I would like to give a special shout-out to my sister Gloria Fifield, who helps me with editing. You can also find her books here on Smashwords as well.

Romance of The Heart
Chapter 1
Jessica Thompson was sitting in her bride's room getting ready for her wedding. She could hardly believe that she was doing this again. If only she had listened to her heart so many years ago. So many things were going through her mind. Mostly how she had been waiting for this day for a while now, but none so much as the first time she had met Dennis. She had known him for a long time, but that was before she had moved away trying to prove to the world who she was. He was her best friend before she married that jerk. But now the world was about to be set right, and she was finally going to be with Dennis. The nervousness had forced her mind to wander.
~*~
It was the fall of 2008, her freshman year in a new school. Not just a new school, but a new town as well. A hick town as far as she was concerned. Jessica’s parents had moved to Ocala FL from Miami because of her father’s job. And now she felt like a slave to this place. It smelled of farms, it was over an hour to the beach, and it was ... it was NOT Miami. Jessica could not figure out why her parent took her away from all her friends to move to this place, of all places!
School had already started a month before their family moved there and her first day at North Marion High School was not as she had planned. There was no more cheerleading like back in Miami. Sure, this town had a cheer squad, but she felt they were all farm girls and lacked the refinement of a real cheer squad. She was used to the refinement of a big city school in Miami. Jessica felt that Ocala was going to be the death of her.
Jessica was a very pretty girl, who was already starting to fill out nicely. This she figured would be a downfall for this school. Boys were the furthest thing from her mind right now, and even if she were interested, they were ... well they were farm boys, and these farm boys had nothing to offer her. Her life was over now, she had no friends, and surely this place had nothing to offer her. She was stuck with it as her parents loved the idea of being in a much smaller city and figured they would retire here. For now, she just needed to get through the first day at school. As her counselor gave her a tour of the school, she had already noticed that she was overdressed for this place. She guessed that Ocala had no fashion either. After a quick tour, Jessica was taken to her first-period class, English.
English was one of Jessica’s better courses. She wanted to be a writer and figured English was more important than all the other classes were and that was where she needed to study the hardest. If she could just get through this day, tomorrow would be better. As she grabbed her seat, her teacher introduced her to the class. Of course, she could hear a couple of the boys in the back of the class gawking at her. This was the first time she met Dennis. He was the only boy in the class who did not say anything or make any snide remarks. And
