BIOGRAPHY By Adam Sandemose Publicist George Santana was born in the Dominican Republic. The son of an Army officer and a nurse. Since very early years the young boy had a great desire for reading books of poetry and Jules Verne fictions short novels. George went to a private school, St John Bosco Catholic School. During his years in school George participated in every literary events and wrote his first short story at the age of 12 years old. Unfortunately, this first work was lost in a fire. At the age of 14, George and some classmates, formed the “Artists Brotherhood”, this was an organization where 6 of his friends and him will meet almost every day to discuss about literature and art. They all decided to adopt a famous name, one of the boys called himself “Davinci” other called himself Picasso, George Took the name of Goethe his favor poet at the time. Soon his classmates and teachers begun to see that the boy had a talent for poetry and writing. He was the designated poet in any literary activity that the school had. At the age of 17, George went to a Military Academy and became a Navy Cadet ( Sub- Officer) It was in those days that he had the Idea of writing a book about the Borgia's Pope. Four years later, we found him leaving the Navy and going to College, where George took courses of Financing and Administration . He went to “APEC University” and later to “Universidad Suramericana” He took courses in journalism and literature. His mother wanted him to become a lawyer, but George came back to his first love - Literature and Writing. During that time George experienced some of the most interesting part of his Youth. He became a anchorman for a TV show “ Cascada de Exitos” with Raphy Garcia as the producer. George Santana married three time and have 3 children. George decided to move to the US and found his place on Miami Beach, Florida. “ The Ocean Is a great inspiration for me” He said. During those years on Miami Beach his literary production increased. Some of the books he has now were written at that time. It took George 10 years of research and information gathering to finish the novel "La Familia Borgia" about the Borgia Pope. George moved in an apartment in South Point the Heart of South Beach and started to work as a contributor for an inflight Magazine “Check In” for air lines, between The US and South America, mostly Brasil. His job was to write about the night life and restaurant food critic. At the same time he was also working with a newspaper (Tiempos del Mundo) where he wrote a column “These were my years as a reporter” he recall. Meanwhile, he began his philanthropic work. George founded the first Dominican Lions Club of the State of Florida, with Ms. Rosa Kases and Angie Chapman. Also, around this time, they registered a charitable foundation with George as one of the directors. “ The Dominican Children Foundation” helped children in need in the Dominican Republic and Africa. Donating more than 10 millions dollars in medications, equipments, school supplies, vehicles and food. In 1997 George received a Diploma Award from World Vision International, for “Working with the world’s most vulnerable people, aiming to share and demonstrate the love and compassion that Jesus Christ extended to all people, especially to children, and particularly to those living in poverty or suffering from oppression and injustice.”
