W ho the heck gets married at Christmas?
Kaitlyn gazed out the window of her hotel. The sun was peeking out of the clouds, yet it wasn’t enough to warm up the thirty-degree temperature.
Sighing, she closed the curtains, then turned her attention to the Styrofoam plate of Chinese food. Taking a huge bite of the egg roll, she wondered how she was going to get through this weekend. She intended to come in to spend Christmas with the family. They’d have a relaxing time eating dinner, opening gifts, and watching a marathon of holiday movies. But that plan was nixed when Kaitlyn’s cousin, Savannah decided she wanted a Christmas wedding.
Savannah had a reputation as being spoilt. Coming from a well-to-do family, she got everything she wanted. For her sixteenth birthday, her father gifted her with a brand new Corvette. Aside from the fancy car, she also had a closet full of designer clothes and handbags. If Savannah’s lifestyle was this luxurious now, Kaitlyn could only imagine what it’d be like once she married her doctor husband.
According to Kaitlyn’s mother, the couple had spent a fortune on the wedding; the budget was rumored to be close to seven digits. Even though Kaitlyn was dreading the wedding, she was also kind of curious to see what the couple had planned for the ceremony.
Finishing the last of the fried rice along with the sweet and sour chicken, Kaitlyn opened the fortune cookie. She smoothed the tiny strip of paper before reading the words,
