    Dedicated to my beloved wife

    Pallabi Devi Sharma

    I surrendered to you, O my Lord……

    Om Namah Shivaya

    Rakesh & Sudha

Rakesh and Sudha, both were two complete strangers; they would hardly know each other. They had never met with each other, either. They had encountered with each other for the first time in the midst of hustle and bustle in the Metro train when they were on the way to their offices. They were almost bump against each other, off balance, all thanks to the steel pole inside the Metro train; they held it in the nick of time, touching and brushing each other’s hands before anything happened fatal. Otherwise, they would see the twinkling stars in the day broad light in front of their eyes. They gazed at each other with rage like they would want to blow the fires of their anger to each other like the two fuming dragons; and would want to blame each other for the mess up and off balance. There were no exchanged of pleasantries or any kind of apology between them. Instead, they rushed to occupy the vacant seat, challenging with each other. They seated calmly and relaxed. But their minds were restless and impatient, still racing to argue and blame to each other.

Every day they met with each other not by choice, but by default. They just looked at each other from the corner of their eyes; but they never dare to talk with each other. Both of them seated in their respective seats like the other co-passengers in the Metro

train. For one hour on the way to their offices and one hour way back to their homes, they seated opposite to each other.

I meet her every day, and she always sits opposite to me. Rakesh said to himself. How rude she is? No manners at all. She doesn’t know how to show her courtesy.

Why this guy always sits opposite to me? Sudha’s mind was racing with wild queries. Why doesn’t he sit in the other seat? Does he start following me? Damned, all men are same. Shameless creature. She couldn’t resist the man who would look at her or stare at her.

Sudha winked her face away from Rakesh, wryly. Her manner of behavior was irresistible for Rakesh. He couldn’t digest her strange manner.

Hey, ma’am. Whatever your name is? Rakesh would want to bellow at her. I am not looking at you. Don’t turn your face like this. You are not the only beautiful girl over here. There are lots of beautiful, charming, gorgeous, hot and sexy girls are here. You’re no match with them, not at the size of a thumb. Don’t try to show me your tantrums. You’re not a Miss World or Miss Universe.

Their mental tussles were going on and on, every day. Nonstop. They were like yelling to each other with their mind waves. Their eyes glazed with the fires of hatreds and rages, ready to burn each other whenever their eye sights collided with each other for a micro second. Their hearts were volleying with the acidic words of curses and abuses to each other. They were fighting with each other with their brain waves. Their opposite senses were ramming with each other. Their six senses were reluctant to match with each other. They were like the two repelling magnetic poles. By no means ready to attract to each other.

For more than one year had been passed in the same fashion. There were no exchanged of any kind of communication between them. Only non verbal gestures. Mental tussles. The cold war inside their brains like the two superpowers: USA and Russia. But, gradually, their behaviors were changed. Their stone like hearts started melting for each other. Perhaps, Kamadeva, the God of Love, had bestowed them the seeds of love in their dried and barren hearts. Dramatically, their unmatched vibrations started matching with each other. Their blazing hatreds and rages in their eyes were no more shelling the balls of fires, but welling with the fountains of love for each other. Their opposite magnetic poles were responding to each other, trembling to attract to each other and would want to embrace each other. They started passing gentle smiles to each other, shyly.

But they didn’t know anything about each other. They were still completely strangers to each other. They had different backgrounds. They had a different life. They had different worlds.

They had different likes and dislikes. They had different ideologies. They had different past, present and future.

What is her name? Rakesh’s mind started knitting a thought about her. If I would talk to her, then how nice it would be. I would get a good companion. I will call her my princess.

The same thoughts were weaving in the head of Sudha.

I meet him every day. What is his name? Sudha’s mind bloomed with untamed thoughts. He looks a nice guy. I will call him my prince.

Gradually, the strong feelings of longing desires for each other grew between them unknowingly. Earlier, they were strangers to each other and wouldn’t want to see each other’s face. They behaved like the fierce foes. Then, now they couldn’t stay away without seeing each other.

It is rightly said that time will heal everything. With the changing season, their minds, hearts and souls were transformed. Their fire like hatreds and rages solidified into an ice; cool and calm, willing to confluence with each other like the two sacred rivers Ganga and Yamuna.

Whenever they had off day in their offices, usually on Sunday and Second Saturday or any Government holidays, they remained restless and impatient to meet with each other. Their minds, hearts, bodies and souls were started aching for each other. They missed each other terribly like the two love birds kept in the two separate cages, dying to see and trembling to meet with each other. If they could fly, they would fly with their wings and meet with each other wherever they would wish.

Rakesh smiled to himself for his wild desire while sipping a cup of coffee in the morning in his house, thinking about Sudha. He felt like the morning breeze had touched his mind, heart, body and soul with the fragrance of Sudha.

What might my princess is doing right, now? If I would get her number, how nice it would be. I would talk to her the whole day.

Sudha also couldn’t control her wandering mind, heart and soul; she smiled to herself while preparing her breakfast, thinking about Rakesh and humming her favorite Bollywood romantic song.

What my prince is doing right, now? Is he thinking about me? She felt shy and blush, felt the goose bumps on her entire body and the naughty breeze had kissed on her soft face tenderly. Why am I thinking about him? I shouldn’t think about a stranger like this. She amended her drifting thoughts.

They were the two strangers to the other passengers of the Metro train; but they were closely attached to each other internally. They were like made for each other. The strings of their hearts were played with the same musical nodes. They were inseparable. The moment their eyes met with each other; they both felt refreshed and rejuvenate like the first shower of the rainy season or the first fragrance of the spring season. They both became animated while finding each other nearby every day. And everything became magical and heavenly.

Rakesh became so familiar with the dress codes of Sudha that he would guess on which day she would wear which dress; and Sudha also knew the same about Rakesh. They started talking to each other with their indications. They talked with their smiles and shyness.

You are looking gorgeous. Rakesh complimented Sudha’s new pink salwar kameez and white colored duppatta while showing his joined thumb and index fingers.

Sudha lowered her eyes, blushing like the newly wedded bride and passed her sweet and gentle smile like she would have acknowledged his praises.

You too look handsome and smart in your blue jeans and white shirt. She also complimented him with her fingers.

They started liking each other unknowingly. Their journey of love had had already on the track the day when they had been both almost bump against each other for the first time. Their smiles and gentle gestures were the only medium of communications between them.

They felt each other feelings. They could read each other thoughts, feelings and emotions. Without uttering a single word from their mouths, they could understand each other’s thoughts, feelings, emotions and languages. They were talking with the languages of their love. In love, every gesture and every indication would be the language of love. They could talk and express their feelings and emotions with their sweet smiles and gentle gestures.

    Rakesh

Hello, mummy-papa, I got a good job in Royal Info Tech company, Rakesh informed his parents with great pride and in one take. He was talking to his parents so ecstatic and excited after many days, weeks and months. Before that he was spending a nomadic life, always hunting for a good job. He had no time for anybody or for anything. He was completely cut off from the social worlds.

Congratulations, beta…..We are very happy for you…. Both the parents were elated. There was no bound in their joy and happiness. It was the greatest moments in their life as well. Every parent waits for this great moment when their children would achieve something spectacular.

Beta, Mata Rani has fulfilled our wish at last, Rakesh’s mother said with a huge grin. She was overwhelmed. She also shed the tears of her joy and happiness.

I’ll offer a puja and prasad to Mata Rani, and distribute laddus to our neighborhood and entire locality. Rakesh’s mother wanted to celebrate her son’s achievement with a grand celebration.

Okay, mummy-papa, I’ll call you back. Rakesh was hurried. He would have to break this great news to his beloved girlfriend, Shikha.

    Okay, beta…

Rakesh was jovial. His hard work had paid him fruitful result eventually. He had been trying for a good job for the last three years. In between, he had to work with many companies for a small salary, the salary which wouldn’t fulfill his daily needs. After the completion of his MBA in finance from a private MBA college from New Delhi, he had to work like a salesman for many small and big companies. He had to work like a daily labor 24/7. And at the end of the month he received only a few bucks on his hands. He was not happy and satisfied with his job as well as with his meager salary. But he had stuck in the job only to gain a job experience. Since, every big company wants not only a degree, but also job experiences. Eventually, after three years working in a company, he had gained enough experience to absorb himself in the big MNC companies for the higher salaries.
