Memoirs of a Doctor - Dr Andrew C S Koh
FOREWORD
Dr. Andrew C.S. Koh's spiritual journey began with humble beginnings, in Tanjong Malim, Malaysia, a small, unassuming town. It continued until his retirement in Ipoh. Andrew was born into poverty to non-Christian parents. He discovered Christianity during a chapel service at his elementary school, where the parable of the prodigal son was told. This event led him on a remarkable faith journey.
Andrew's education allowed him to leave behind his poverty-stricken roots and become a successful doctor who specializes in cardiology and Internal Medicine. Andrew had a spiritual awakening during his time as a medical student. This led to his renewed dedication to Jesus Christ while working in Teluk Intan.
He was fortunate to have been mentored by two well-known Bible teachers who provided him with a comprehensive understanding of God's guidance from Genesis to Revelation. I had the honor to serve as his pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church during this time, and we became close family friends.
Andrew is known for his devotion to his practice, starting each procedure by praying for his patients. He saw medicine as a way to share the Gospel with non-Christians and to provide spiritual assistance to Christian friends who needed it. He showed his dedication through his study, teaching, and preaching of the Bible. He also provided physical and spiritual support when needed. This was not only at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, but also at other churches when he visited!
In 1999, Andrew paused his medical practice for three years to study full-time at Laidlaw Bible College in Auckland, New Zealand. This was his way of following God's calling. Memoirs of a Doctor chronicles Andrew's journey from childhood to retirement. It is an inspirational testament to how faith can change lives when people are faithful, obedient, and open to God's calling.
This book is an inspirational story of God's use of individuals in His kingdom as vessels, like Dr. Koh. We send him our best wishes as he continues to work in ministry, whether as an author or preacher.

PREFACE
Reflections on a Lifetime
This memoir will take you on a journey through my life, from my childhood memories that have been distorted by the passage of time until retirement. The book aims to inspire my family, friends, colleagues, and future generations, even as memories fade.
For over five years, I've been thinking about writing my memoir. Due to my work commitments, I did not have the time or energy to write it. It was only after my retirement that I found motivation and the opportunity to continue.
My memoir writing journey was more enjoyable than I had anticipated. The first draft was completed in two months, but editing and proofreading were delayed by the editing software.
I dedicate this work to my late grandfather, Koh Tuck, and father, Koh Kam Sang, as well as my mother, Wu Choh Lan, and my uncle, Wu Cheok Lim, who have all passed away before me. I'd also like to thank my wife, Cheah Wai Yin, my sons, Joseph, Joshua, and Joel, my daughters-in-law, Renee, Tina, and Angelina, and my grandchildren, Isaac, Benjamin, Daniel, Jonathan, Giselle, Katie, Annabelle, Isabelle, Kristabelle, for being a part of my life.
I am grateful to God for His guidance and protection during my life's most dangerous moments. Tina Koh's unfailing encouragement and support have helped bring this project to life.
I want to thank Dr. Timothy Sng and the late Canon Dr. S.K. Teoh, Joanna Lee, and the revered late schoolteachers Mr. Abel, Mrs. Jothi and Mr. Nagappan. I am deeply grateful for the guidance and mentorship provided by Dato KRR Naidu during high school. I am grateful to my former high schoolmate, Lim Soo Ken, and my former medical school classmate, Dato Dr. Gunasegaran, for their valuable insights.
I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the creation and publication of this book. Your presence and your support have made these pages come alive, making them a testimony to our life together.

Indeed, a truthful and insightful journey into the life of a doctor. This is an easy and interesting book and when someone picks it up to read, he will not put it down until the last page. A true, interesting, and colorful life story of an ordinary person who becomes a cardiologist with the help and guidance of the One and True God, Jesus Christ. This book shows us that though we may not believe or know God, He is always there to plan and script our lives. The author wished to share with his readers that when one does know this God, Jesus Christ, He will be even more ready to prepare and usher them towards the direction where they can find security, meaning, blessing, and joy. The panoramic view of a village boy to a city doctor, interspersed with beautiful poems, has shown how an honest, innocent young person faced and swam in the ocean of sophisticated and challenging turbulence. His faith in Jesus Christ has become an oasis for him in the world of struggles, unending expectations, and stressful pressures. A book of great relief and comfort for the soul.

I found reading this book very inspiring as Dr. Andrew C S Koh shares stories about his childhood, education, a career in different towns, marriage, family, loss of friends, close encounter with paralysis, travels, and most of all his love for the Bible. The memoirs include some of his personal poems with the latest one about the Covid 19. Underlining the memoirs is his faithfulness to God, living out a productive and impactful life. At the end of the reading, you will find that God has
