    AND THE

    VALLEY OF THE DWARFS

    CHAPTER 1

    THE TINSOP TOWN

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful town of Tinsop. The town lay in proximity to the River Dixi. Town was a dream residence of the artists and all the newbie artists used to come and find and build their abodes in Tinsop.

Tinsop Artsy weather is worth a mention. It is the apt weather to bloom and nurture. Once visiting Tinsop, nobody could even think of anywhere else.

The homes were uniformly built all throughout the town, there was no place of dirt or waste.

All the waste and dirt etc was properly disposed of and recycled.

The town earned a good fame and reputation owing to the renowned artistic men living there. People of all interests like painting, photography, architecture, theatre, performance art, dancing, video and film art, computer and digital art, calligraphy, abstract expression, etc. stayed there and adorned the town in their best special manners.

All the painters of the town had painted their glory covering the town all over. Zig zag, crosswords, parallels, dissections, triangles, circles, squares, chequerboards, and what else can you imagine not to find in the land of Tinsop.

The musical artists used to play all types of instruments. The violinists and pianists together organised many concerts of soft music, pop music and countryside music. They used to gather almost more than half of the town population as their spectators.

The dancers were a group of masters of all dance forms like contemporary, ballet, latin, tango, jazz, salsa, pole, irish, cuban, etc.

The language masters used to teach and learn all languages like spanish, english, french, russian, arabic, etc.

The tailors and knitters used to make and sell all dress types like shirts, skirts, trousers, jackets, coats, socks, gloves, stockings, scarves, etc.

Potterers used to make all things like vases, decoratives, vessels, mugs, plates, holders, etc from all kinds of materials like clay, ceramic, bone ash, stone, etc.

Painters used to make all types of painting styles like oil painting, water painting, fresco, abstract expression, sand painting, watercolour painting, spray painting, acrylic painting, still life painting, figure painting, reverse glass painting, etc.

Every man had a talent of mother nature, hundreds of classes of art of paint, pottery, sketching, dancing, singing, writing, poetry, carving and every other art not mentioned or you can think of used by the teaching resorts of kids.

There was a tribal clan too residing in the remote regions of the town, they belonged to the group of economically poor people and used to practise minimalism. They had no other option to be satisfied and happy. People used to employ them as helpers in houses, farms, shops, etc. The minimalist lifestyle that was adopted had restrictions of its own. Some of the features of such lifestyle were,  to stay in rented rooms or homes, have no property of their own, no extra stuff of their own, not more than 6 dresses of their own, no vehicles of their own, etc.

But apart from all the deficiencies in life, these tribal families were happy and content with whatever they had, they were not aggressive or frustrated, rather they were very god fearing and believed in the essence of hard work. They used to help the economically higher clan people to live their lives in a better fashion. They served as helpers, cooks, mechanics, car washers, tailors, carriers, public transport and private vehicle drivers. All in all, they were an indispensable part of the society and without them the daily routine, lifestyle and comforts of affluent people would surely suffer.

The whole social and mental make up of Tinsop was simply wonderful and beautiful as contributed by great talented people of the town who all lived with harmony, peace and gratitude. Relations with nearby towns and places were also amicable and people of Tinsop were highly known for their humility and intelligence and perfection of mannerisms.

    CHAPTER 2

    WIZGIN THE WONDER GIRL

Tinsop was a town with all the wonderful facilities and amenities, and this all reflected in the luxurious lifestyle of the affluent class of population living in the town.

There were three strata of the social levels , the affluent, the middle and the lower economic or poor people.

Generally the affluent class of society consisted of the master of arts, the legendary teachers in the town who used to conduct classes in bulk for the students of all age groups

Wizgin was cute and pretty, and was 8 years old. She used to learn dancing from the best dancers of Tinsop. She was also simultaneously learning meditation and focus tricks and paint and pottery art.

One windy, dark evening, Wizgin was returning from her dance class, she met a fallen tree on the road or way she daily had to go through. It was not possible for her to go this way today. She asked a shopkeeper nearby about another way she could opt for. The shopkeeper was a little scared but hopefully told  her the darker, rather difficult path through the woods which was the only path left if Wizgin had to reach home.

Wizgin too got a little scared and asked the shopkeeper if there are any wild animals or not, but the shopkeeper convinced her that many people have taken this path during calamity and safely reached their destinations.

Wizgin took the strange path and was constantly chanting her evening prayers as she moved on.

As she was passing through the woods, she saw a light in a faintly dark distance but could not figure out anything else. Slightly distracted, she ignored and kept on quickly walking. In about half an hour, she was out of the woods on a clearer, grey road to Tinsop.

Now her joy and pace knew no bounds and she had forgotten everything about the woods.

She took quick little steps towards her home built on the side of a road in Tinsop.

There was a vegetable stop just before the house and also a bakery was situated on the other end of the house.

You can imagine a house sandwiched in between the veggie market and the bakery.

There was another supermarket  in the town of Tinsop from where generally clothes, stationery, grocery, decorative items and utensils were procured on a day to day basis by almost all the people.

All in all, Tinsop was a really happening place amongst the five towns situated in a garland fashion around the River Dixi. Other towns' names were Chopkon, Stalon, Limhorn and Pogwon. Chopkon was an abode of farmers, Stalon was the home of Highly educated corporate office going people and students too, Limhorn  was an animal hub where all kinds of animals were kept and reared to procure useful items like dairy, leather, meat, milk and milk products and Pogwon was the abode of the businessmen and the traders who all guided the cash inflow and outflow.

None of the towns could do without the other and all five towns were intimately dependent and harmoniously well knit with each other famously known as Five Dixi petals.

    CHAPTER 3

    THE MYSTERIOUS LIGHT

It was a beautiful evening the next day and Wizgin was curling and combing her long bronze brown hair and listening to an old pop song of her grandma’s times. And the song verse went like....

The shine of the light struck my mind, oh how I wonder, what could lie behind?

This one line suddenly reminded Wizgin of the yester nights’ woods’ path walk where she saw a light and she was so engrossed and influenced by the song that she actually got super curious to know what lay behind that light or from where the light was coming?

Wizgin was brainstorming how to know all about the woods and the mysterious light. She could not gather the courage to go back that way, no way! To her great wonder, her mom’s elder brother came that evening to visit them. He was Uncle Yang. He and Wizgins’ mom had a playful, charming childhood time at their home which belonged to Wizgins’ Grandparents.

As soon as Wizgin saw Uncle Yang coming, she was full of joy and before uncle Yang could grab a comfortable seat on the couch, she jumped into his lap and kissed him on the cheek.

Oh dear Uncle, where have you been, what did you bring for me? You remember last time you came, you had promised me a toy lantern which I could  keep lit in my room the whole night. Did you get me my lantern?

Oh sweetie pie Wizgi, I am so sorry dear, I came in a little hurry as I was on a trade trip to Pogwon and just couldn’t imagine going back home without visiting you all. I forgot the lantern, but see, I got you this toy dining set for you and your pretty doll. I am sure you’ll love it.``

Ohk Uncle dear, I will keep the dining set for me and my doll, but today you have to take me for a walk in the woods, will you?

In the woods? What do you mean, the woods in the backyard of the town? Oh my God, dear sweet Wizgi, don’t you go there, It is too late and I have heard there is a valley of dwarfs in the centre of the woods. They are not like us, they are different from us, they do not know us, why should we go to some strange place? It is not good and safe for us.

Valley of dwarfs? You mean small people? Will they harm us Uncle Yang?

I don’t know, my mom never let me go to the woods, she used to tell me some magical stories about the woods, I was too scared as a child to go there and so I will never take you there.

Grandma knew about the woods, Right?

Oh Yes! She did! She had been there and so she knew it all.

Oh wow! Granny was so brave and adventurous. I really admire her so much. I wish she was here today, I would have walked along the woods with her.

Oh don’t mourn over this weird idea, let us go out to the nearby restaurant. I will get you a favourite piece of chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. Then you will never think of  the walk to the woods as the divine sweet flavour and aroma will fill your mind and taste, ha ha ha (laughs)

Brownie? Oh God, I love it. Let us rush to the Hilton restaurant, we will get the best there, it will take us a 15 minute drive from the home, come on Uncle Yang, let us go.

Yeah! Yeah! I am waiting for your Mom, what has she been doing for so long, she doesn't even know that I have come to visit you all. Go inside and call her Wizgi.

Wizgins’ Mom arrives from the kitchen with a tray full of pancakes, black coffee and choco biscuits.

Oh! Mamma, we were planning to eat out, and you have been cooking all this?

Yes, my dear, I saw Uncle Yang coming to home from the kitchen window, I felt I would give him a delicious surprise.

Oh great! You did it! It is indeed a delectable treat.

Come Wizgi, get seated on the dining table, I will serve you

    Thanks mom.

For around three hours, Uncle Yang stayed and enjoyed the appetising snacks and later a mouth watering dinner of chicken soup with cheese vegetable cutlets.

It got quite late till Uncle Yang actually left them, he hired a cab for himself. It was a two hour trip to his home in Stalon. He was indeed a rich, influential, classy person.

As soon as Uncle Yang left, Wizgins’ mom locked the home doors and asked Wizgin to tidy her room and bed and go to sleep, as the next day early morning Wizgin had to attend her meditation classes. They were followed by a break, then she had three more classes of dancing, then pottery and again dancing in the evening. This was her daily routine. She was together mastering salsa and belle forms of dancing at different times of the day. All in all, her mother wanted her to be a genius of arts , all kinds of arts so that she could live her own life wilfully and beautifully.

Wizgin was always an obedient and happy child so she agreed to her mom’s wishes with keen and hardwork. She too thoroughly enjoyed all kinds of arts and was always interested
