    NEET PG 1 2 3 - Sapna Bajaj Jain

    1. KNOW YOUR BATTLE FIELD

All about medical PG entrance exams

It’s very important to be fully aware of the specific requirements of the examination you are preparing for like the pattern of exam, marking system, number and type of questions, allotted time, as well as learning objective before you begin the journey.

There are 2 different exams for medical undergraduates to study different postgraduate MD, MS, and diploma courses, in government or private medical colleges in India. The First is INI-CET and the second is NEET- PG.

NEET PG is for PG seats in any government or private medical college other than10 institute of national importance

INI-CET is the exam for institutes of national importance such as all AIIMS, PGIMER, JIPMER, NIMHANS, and SRI CHITRATA-IMST(SCTIMST).

The INI CET registration process is divided into two phases. The first is Basic Registration, which generates the examination unique code. If your EUC has been generated, you can proceed to the second step of the application process. You need to know each and every detail of the exam to qualify well.

    INI- CET

INI- CET is held twice a year, in January and July. It is a computer-based test in English with a multi-subject, multi-topic MCQ pattern, with 200 MCQ to be completed in 180 minutes (3hours). The UG level syllabus is based on the Indian medical graduate degree offered by NMC. Type of questions asked are of the single correct choice and multiple correct choice. Remember that in multiple correct choice questions it may have more than one valid answer, but you must select just one correct response from the four options provided. For example, the options may be like –

    a. Only a, b is correct.

    b. Only a b and d are correct.

    c. Only c is correct.

    d. All a b c & d are correct.

Marking - Negative marking is there, NO mark is awarded for unanswered questions. 1 mark for the correct answer and for the wrong answer -1/3 mark is cut.

A review is an option where you can mark any question, whether attempted or not for the review, which means that you have been given an option to go through these questions again before the exam time ends. The questions which are marked for review and attempted (answer ticked) shall be evaluated as per the marking scheme mentioned above.

The time of the exam is morning from 9am to 12pm. You must visit the test centre location in order to get to know the exam site before the examination day and to be there well within the time.

All 19 Subjects which you are familiar with from the start of your medical college are Biochemistry, Physiology & Anatomy (preclinical); Pathology, Microbiology, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine (Paraclinical) & Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Medicine, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesiology, Radiology (clinical).

The trillion-dollar question is what to study and from where to start in order to score well. Remember that your priming has already been completed with your basic books for each subject during your prof and sessional exams; all you need to do now is orient yourself with the examination pattern and revise. So, prepare according to a specific pattern with respect to the PG entrance
