    As Soar began her new journey away from the Pigeon’s home she grew up in, on the roof top of a brick building on the edge of a Texas forest, she discovered a world that mesmerized her. Soar would take flight each day venturing further into the landscape’s edge only to discover the edge never was found. The air felt different and even smelled different. She could see other creatures new to her and they saw her.

    A favorite landing spot for her was a bare, twiggy tree that towered above all the others at the opening to the forest. She could feel the tree adjust to her weight as she landed on the branch that reminded her of her friend Theo’s arm. Day after day, she would rest upon the tree branch, keeping her eyes moving upon the landscape searching for her day’s activities.

    At night as she rested upon the tree branch, she could hear a soft whimper moaning from somewhere. No matter... she would tell herself, ...it’s none of my business.

    At dawn, Soar felt the sun’s warmth bidding
