    1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I was puzzled by a response after talking to someone about Jesus. Then it dawned on me. God gives us a choice. Heaven or Hell? God let's us choose. He let Adam and Eve choose. Moses, in Deuteronomy, put before the people a curse and a blessing. He told them, choose life. Choose a blessing. But he cannot choose for them.

So it is with God. He chooses to let us choose.

    Exodus 23:24

You shall not bow down to their gods...

    TIME CONTEXT OF THE BIBLE

1 AM to 6000 AM (3925 BC to 2075 AD)

I may have ancestors who hung by their neck, but I never had ancestors who hung by their tail. -- Duane Gish

Leviticus 25:11 That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee to you.

Timing is important. At least Moses thought so. You might wonder how Bible prophecy relates to a seemingly random event in 1925. Timing is a key.

Prior to widespread teaching of evolution in public education, up until around 1900 or so (The Scopes Trial was 1925 -- recognize 1925 as a Year of Jubilee), every biblical literate North American Christian is probably familiar with and believes everything written in the following pages. There is a time when this is taught by the entire Christian church. Then, we weighed anchor and drifted away from the authority of God's word.

Why? You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creation_and_evolution_in_public_education_in_the_United_States

Readers might think time is wasted reviewing context. I think context has to be seen correctly, in order to better grasp the implications of the following pages. Most have no idea they have been taught false context.

    TIME CONTEXT OF THE BIBLE

1 AM to 6000 AM (3925 BC to 2075 AD)

It didn't happen overnight. As far as I can tell, there was a general, wide spread and wide ranging academic attack launched on the Bible that started chipping away at the authority of God's word, one verse at a time. That attack has been underway in Europe for hundreds of years. But it is only in the past hundred years, more or less, in this country that the process got underway. Our delay is due to leading academic institutions in the United States founded by men with strict Judeo-Christian convictions. There was an institutional reluctance and hesitation to depart from founding traditions and recognized authorities.

Of course, the book of Genesis offers an easy target, because so few people genuinely understand how to view its content in a modern context. It is a very old book, written in a very ancient context, all of which is entirely unfamiliar to modern readers. That makes it a rich target for rhetorical confusion. Not to mention that very few master the subtlety of the original language. English translations make the matter that much easier to confuse.

Where does that leave us? There are way too many people who think they know more than God does about the past, the present and the future. This book tells a story about how I came to realize the difference between the truth and the lies. This story took an entire lifetime to take shape. In the following pages I only take time to hit a few high spots -- the most important aspects of this book's particular subject matter.

It is, actually, a lot of fun finding and resurrecting information found languishing in various sources. It is not as if the information has no merit or has been proven to be in error. It has simply been replaced by more fashionable, and in some cases, really, really stinky, new ideas, and then dismissed as irrelevant and anachronistic. Everything I discuss here is off-the-shelf doctrine. The former ways have not vanished. They are simply left on the shelf, collecting dust (like many Bibles these days).

Oh. Dear readers. Don't believe their nonsense for even a moment. The truth shall set you free. Take another look at that quote by Duane Gish at the top of the page.

    NOTE

Throughout the book are internet links (URL's) for those who want more detail about particular subjects. As for search engines, one problem with search engines is that they have been 'optimized'. Yes. It's a fancy way of saying that they don't always pull up what we are searching for. So. I do readers a small favor by posting links here and there to provide further information on subject matter they find interesting yet unfamiliar. I hope they are helpful links.

    INTRODUCTION

Ever wonder how we got here? Keep reading.

First, this is a story whose context is entangled with the history of the country of my birth -- the United States. However, during my lifetime the U.S. has become a global empire. So the story overflows the entire world in various ways and to varied degrees. Context is an essential.

In the course of research, I found a graphic of the big picture in one simple chart. The link is posted below. If the chart is something that grabs your attention, the following pages will be of interest. It is a tedious exercise to wade through all the background information required to grasp the significance of events that bring us to where we are today.

Some may ask how I can be sure this happened in the past 100 or so years? How do I arrive at that specific timing? They say a picture is worth a thousand words and this one chart says a lot about the effectiveness of public education indoctrination of our children the way it has been done over the past 100 years.

See the first chart in the link below (scroll down the page).

    https://answersingenesis.org/ministry-news/core-ministry/staggering-opportunity-for-aig/

Numbers tell the whole story. Even before a theory of biological evolution was taught in public schools, about half of the population had an interest in church attendance. Of those born before 1928 (The Scopes Trial is 1925) 56% attend church. By the time of the Millennial generation born in 1981 or later, church attendance drops to 18%. There is a steady decline since 1928.

How did that happen? I know what I saw over the course of my own lifetime. Even in the small town I grew up in this trend was in place. My earliest memory of church is the years post WWII, the early 1960s. WWII was still fresh in memory, even though no one talked about it. I saw the look on people's faces when the subject was mentioned. I saw people break down in tears even in the 1970s when reminded of the war. People are always in search of peace with God, and peace with those around them.

Whether you recognize it or not, most of the so-called education that you have received is carefully edited and revised dogma. TV 'news' is no different. We are only told what they want us to believe. We are not told anything they want to keep out of sight and out of mind. To put it bluntly, you have been (are being) brainwashed. See the Duane Gish quote above.

It was always my belief that everything written in The Holy Bible is written, because God wants me to know, personally. I am not sure where I got that idea, but it sticks with me until today. The Bible is a corporate book and a personal book. I have seen it referred to metaphorically as The Owner's Manual. It is much more than page after page of dry theological doctrine.

From my earliest memory, I attended Christian church services on Sunday morning, and heard Bible readings followed by speaker's commentary. After I was born again, I had a hunger to read my Bible, a discount edition, King James Version pew Bible, that was soon falling apart. They were made to carry to church on Sunday, not everyday reading. In 1975, I just started reading the Holy Bible and never stopped.

In the 1970s, there was much talk about living in the 'last days'. Not knowing any better, I took it to mean that most of the information about the last days is in the book of Revelation. It made sense. It is the last book in the Bible. I wanted to know the end of the story. In spite of all the talk about the 'last days', nobody talked much about what was actually written in the book of Revelation, even in church on Sunday. That was puzzling. I wanted to know what was in my future. I thought the Rapture was going to whisk me away before I finished high school. A few minutes of Bible on Sunday morning was not cutting it.

I was like the disciples in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 24. I wanted to know when. When will this happen? I had no idea how complicated and controversial that question can be. Throw into the mix a popular 1970s book by Hal Lindsey, The Late Great Planet Earth, which is the only book I had read on the subject of the end times, and I was anxious to know WHEN events would start to unfold. It was very clear, according to what little I had been taught and the contents of Hal Lindsey's book, that we are certainly living in the last days. And that is in the 1970s.

It all boils down to one 'sign of the times'. If you see an Israeli state, located in the historical place described in the Bible, you know you are in the last days, for sure. Jesus is scheduled to return to Jerusalem and set up his Messianic Millennial Kingdom at that location. But when?

Well. Jesus tells us. That is what this book is about. After spending almost fifty years exploring the question, and seeing how others tend to miss the boat, I have come to some simple conclusions. I think most conclusions are obvious enough. It is a matter of locating useful data to work with, then parsing it correctly. Hal Lindsey is not the first one with bad timing. Almost three hundred years ago Sir Isaac Newton was concerned about people speculating about the end of the world. So, he just compiled a chronology and added up the years, using dates mentioned in Bible prophecy, and came very close to a correct end point. Bishop Ussher did it before Newton. His timing is off by about 70 years. Later in the book we will see why. It is not that timing is hard to do or hidden in the text. It is that its simplicity has been neglected, then discredited and dismissed. Timing of Bible prophecy is one of those things that is left on the shelf to collect dust, because 'the experts' don't believe it. Experts use other chronologies. These days it is almost always a chronology that supports theories of biological evolution.

There is a popular notion that Bible prophecy has to be sensational and dramatic. That is a tabloid brand of Bible prophecy. For sake of accuracy, that kind of Bible prophecy is best to avoid. In fact, authentic Bible prophecy tends to be fairly mundane in most cases - totally lacking in drama. Maybe THAT'S why it gets so little attention, or the wrong kind of attention from contemporary crowds?

Another aspect of this often goes unnoticed. There is a common sentiment that everything about God and the Bible relies entirely on blind faith. There are those who want to believe that there is no specific reason for faith. Well. Bible prophecy lays that claim to rest. Once a person begins to understand what they are looking at when it comes to Bible prophecy, it is apparent that God intends, every step along the way, to provide reasons for faith. Bible prophecy, when properly understood, is one more reason to be persuaded of God's faithfulness.

None of this is complicated. It is mostly a matter of going back into the archives and recover parts of the historic teaching of the Judeo-Christian church that have been shelved in the past hundred years, or so. They were not dismissed because they are wrong. They were dismissed because they went out of style when biological evolution became stylish. Historic Judeo-Christian doctrine and biological evolution are incompatible views of human history because they do not share the same chronology.

This book is more than a collection of dry facts. I want to explore some of the reasons for events we see in the past, present and future. We need to see the current context for what it is and is not. There is too much confusion of all things Christian. I set out to answer a few of my own questions, and minimize confusion as much as possible. It was interesting to watch this story come together.

Let me show you what I found.

    A NOTE ON CHRONOLOGY

For those with an interest, there is a newly released (March 2022) book, Traced: Human DNA's Big Surprise by Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson. It illustrates Biblical chronology in the context of genealogical studies based on historic reconstructions derived from genomic (DNA) science. Fascinating stuff. There are several YouTube videos related to Jeanson's book and other aspects of his fascinating work. His work demonstrates the accuracy of the history recorded in Genesis, from a totally independent and firmly scientific modern perspective.

    NOTE ABOUT REFERENCES

Another thing to keep in mind is that reference links provided in URL's, are mostly random. By that, I mean they are not published as an endorsement. I have looked at them and found them readable (often inaccurate). They provide a link to use as a starting point for further online reading and study. Because they are pasted in this book does not imply that I endorse the website. Personally, I usually go to Wikipedia first and then a search engine. Going through search engine results, hoping for something useful can use up a lot of time. One goal is to save readers the time of having to duplicate my efforts.

    PROLOGUE

A MODERN CONTEXT FOR BIBLE PROPHECY DEALING WITH DISTORTIONS

    LEARNING TO TELL TIME

IN THE BEGINNING - AN EDENIC VISION

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

    [...]

And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

    [...]

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

    [...]

Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

    [...]

Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Take note. Eden, in Hebrew, means pleasure or paradise. The Vulgate translates the word as paradise and LXX, Garden of Delight. The general idea is that God intends for human creation to have more than a minimal existence. God provides a place of abundance and pleasure for his human family. This is a version of human history at odds with the typical rendering of prehistoric man living at a subsistence survival level, huddled in fear around fires in caves. From its first page, the Bible tells us that version of human history is absolute nonsense.

    https://www.abarim-publications.com/Meaning/Eden.html

Can you see that the opening passage is all about the Creation of Man? Context sets the stage for Adam and Eve, the new human family of God. This condensed passage, taken from the first verses of the book of Genesis, provides a context for who we are and how we end up in the predicament we find ourselves in at the moment. It tells us in simple terms why we never feel at home in this earth below. We are created for a place called Eden (Paradise). We rebelled against God, our father, and his authority. As expected, he kicked us out of Eden, for our own good, because we were in danger of bringing even greater harm upon ourselves.

If you were ever a parent, you understand this situation very well.

That hunger in your heart that nothing on earth can satisfy? Yes. It is a longing to return to Eden, and our Father's house. We know we inhabit a world filled with peril and dysfunction. We long to escape this bondage of our human spirit in the Egypt of our existence. It is a Savior we need.

Now we are in need of restoration. And the rest of the Bible goes on to describe, in some detail, how God, our Father in heaven, goes about providing a way of rescue and restoration. His goal is to restore us to the place we long for all of our days. He wants to bring us back to Eden, the place we were created for in the first place. It is the place our heart longs for. It is a place that has no equal on this earth. It is the place where God longs to gather his human family. Like the Prodigal Sons that we are, we long to return to the joyful abundance of our Father's house.

The New Eden is also our final destination as described in the book of the Revelation. Rev 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Take note that Moses understood the necessity of setting the correct context. Of course, he was well aware of all the surrounding religious ideas in circulation, having just left Egypt. James Michener, a popular writer of the 20th century, provides an example of modern context. It strikes me that, in the 20th century, James Michener novels copy Moses. Michener opens a novel with a full geological description of evolutionary time. He renders an account of evolutionary 'creation'. It always struck me as odd that Michener opens his novel that way. Now it dawns on me. He is only copying a better writer. You have to admit, Michener is a smart guy. Copy a winner. Moses sells way more copies than Michener.

One last comment on Michener and evolution. Nobody knows what happened millions of years ago. Neither does Michener. That's all you need to know. It is based entirely on falsehoods. It is NOT the science they tell you it is.

    CONTEXT OF THE BIBLE

After starting this book, it became apparent that one of the challenges modern readers face with an ancient text has to do with distortions introduced by modern context. Michener provides an example of modern context. One goal of this book is, at least make readers aware of the fact that they need to understand the Bible as it was understood in the ancient historical context it was written. The original historical context of the Bible is different than the modern social context. The main difference in context is actually a very simple point to understand. We are taught to believe that what the Bible tells us is wrong - that the Bible is in error.

In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. It is just the opposite. One reason there is so much failure in modern social institutions is because we are told a long list of falsehoods. We are told lies. Then, in an effort to offer a solution for all the chaos as a result of those lies, we are told more lies about how to correct the situation. There are many examples of this to draw from. The myth of Gun Control is a popular one, although almost any political hot button issue provides examples of how to serve up false solutions.

Let's look at another example of Bible context.

    https://biblehub.com/interlinear/leviticus/25-11.htm

The first word of the Leviticus 25:11 verse in the Preface, in its original language, is literally 'ram's horn'. A Hebrew word meaning 'ram's horn' is transliterated into English as 'Jubilee'. (Notice that word order in an English translation also differs from the original language.) The writer of the verse knows what a ram's horn means, but modern readers would never know unless the word is translated in its correct context. Readers in English need to know that a Year of Jubilee is announced and begins by blowing a ram's horn. Yet, even that translation loses the symbolism represented by blowing a ram's horn, which implies that the beginning of the Messianic Millennial Age will be announced by blowing ram's horn trumpets. Jesus and those around him probably had all this in mind when he stood in the synagogue and read the Isaiah 61 passage mentioned in Luke 4:21. They had a much better grasp of correct context.
