About this ebook
A poignant and heartwarming story. Cali, a calico kitten, is separated from her mother and siblings. Her mother always told them if they got lost to go to a safe place and wait for her to come for them. Cali ventures further from home than she realizes in search of that safe place. She finds one with Penny, the little girl who finds her huddled in a store entryway. She feels safe with Penny, but can't stay there because of Penny's father's allergy to cats. She never dreamed that a new home will truly take her home to the safest place of all. (A story for the child in all of us.)

A Calico Christmas
Cali snuggled in between her brothers and nuzzled close to Mama. Their little nest under the nice lady’s porch was cozy, but the wind had turned cold overnight. The nice lady had brought out a box and a blanket. She had given Cali her name when she picked her up gently, smiled, and settled her back in with her mom and siblings. It was the first time a human had touched her. Being lifted so high away from Mama made her squirm and meow.
What a big voice for such a tiny little one,
the lady said. I’m going to have to try to find you all homes soon. But you’ll be safe under here for now.
The lady stroked her tiny head with a fingertip. Such pretty coloring. A true Calico. Little Cali.
The lady left bowls of food and water for Mama and a little extra milk for Cali and her brothers. Cali still suckled on her mom
