    EPISODE 0

This, Is Earth. No, not the Earth that you’re familiar with, but the Earth as we know it now. A place full of sunshine, rain, happiness, grief, peace and war. A hairline distinction between subtle and blunt. Sounds eerily familiar, doesn’t it? Yeah, wait til you get the visual tour. There are things in this age that could never exist in the past.

Who am I, you ask? Nothing more than a narrator, guiding you through this interesting passage. I’m simply smoothing out the course without side tracks or drifts. Keeping the main thing, the main thing. Other than that, forget I’m even here; I’ll be a nonfactor for the duration of this journey.

Returning to the World at hand, plenty has changed over time. In order to fully grasp the current status you’d have to hear about its difficult history. Understand where it’s been and how it’s gotten here. Let’s take a trip down our timeline shall we!

2029. We were on the verge of change. The U.S. Government initiated its two biggest projects since the creation of NASA. Scientists began to further evolve Artificial Intelligence, while in separate labs, two other experiments were progressing. These two projects were created to possibly change the future; and they did. They were called Titan and Chimera.

Their hopes were that the former, Titan, would create an all new DNA strand completing the once infamous super soldier myth. The latter was believed to make our military incapable of being unmatched, but hell not only that, capable of breeding a beast your biggest weapons couldn’t kill. Beasts that could be taught to obey! Animals trained to destroy.

Many hoped that the hybrid creatures birthed in a lab would obliterate the enemy and not its ally. With knotted stomachs, they hoped these creatures would learn the difference.

2038. The Project Titan serum was created. There were many failed trials and botched attempts but finally there came a formula that passed every test. Many soldiers died volunteering while just as many declined. Others were weary, but not for long. Once the very first successful injection came down the tube, news raced around the world, buzzing in every ear. It was known as the Drug of the Future and more than just the enlisted were eager to see its effects.

After First Cadet Watson Millibrooks appeared nationally, unscathed and in his right mind, many soldiers hurried to get in line. There were no signs of the aforementioned side effects that plagued the previous failed attempts; chilling records of deteriorated skin, loss of random bodily fluids, and festering breakouts that resulted in an agonized death.

Unlike the previous trials, this one gave the host an immune system free of any infection, disease or poison. It extended life span and heightened one’s abilities and senses.

There were four administered trials for the new and improved Super human serum, resulting in over eight hundred men. Eventually, more than a thousand. The Super soldier myth was now a reality.

2039: The TS breakout. After some time had passed, First Cadet Millbrooks became unstable. The compounded mixture and adrenaline in the serum slowly became too much for the human body and mind. The host would lose self awareness, mental stability and intelligence. They suffered blistering fevers and reacted like rabid zombie dogs.

Very few survived the reactions to the drug, instead given a semi antidote which helped the body stabilize. This wouldn’t last long either. Said that after a year or two it could no longer resist and once the Titan serum created super immunity to the anti-drug, it’d kill the host.

Nerve-wrecked, in fear of backlash, the government shut down the project and locked the serum away.

2040: The First Chimera was born. Scientists finally cracked the code on animal biology or whatever you called these Beastly experiments. The combination of a Lion, Eagle, and a serpent took on the form of something hideous, which made for international news.

Worldwide, many wanted to bid for the demon.

Not long after the tests and training were deemed successful, it was revealed that Chimeras identical to mythological Griffins existed. Werewolf hybrids, Hippogriffs, Unicorns, and all sorts were named. Creatures you’d never imagined now successfully spawned. Combined DNA of this magnitude brought scrutiny from the masses; playing God is what people called it. Many considered it grossly inhumane.

Meanwhile in test labs, Scientists assumed the creatures were trained and ready for possible military use, with only a few still opposing the idea. It was obvious these lab beings were intelligent, more so than we thought.

2042: Chimera attacks ensue after escaping during a yearly review with the state. One of the more dangerous griffins attacked the employees, causing an outbreak. Hundreds of species escaped; devouring every human in sight, lashing out a bloodlust they’ve kept at bay for two years.

They attacked cities, towns, and bases. Wildly scampering through forests and viciously destroying civilians. Again, for a second time, our national projects nearly ruined the country.

2045: Cora is created. After three years of trying to neutralize the Chimera outbreak, losing more than a third of the Continents population, many countries came to the aid of the U.S. to create Cora, the first ever A.I. brain. Stationed in New York and unlike anything these world renowned "ologists" could ever dream of. It created Nanites, which have become a staple in technology today, including the nano antibodies that neutralized the titan serum in our last surviving soldiers.

Continuing its work, thousands of war bots were made to eliminate and put an end to the threatening Chimera War, which had peaked up to now.

Cora could have ended it all sooner if the creatures hadn’t begun to reproduce with the wildlife counterparts of similar DNA. It was a horror no one saw coming. The epidemic terrified many and surprised many more.

On the country’s borders, the machine inserted droid protection that would eliminate any monster on sight. The lost parts of the world would be wastelands and natural habitats for these new residing species of the planet. Cora decided they all couldn’t be killed, so instead, keeping a watchful eye of them at bay was the best promising solution.

2050. Cora turns on the world. As if we didn’t see this coming. The once allied machine did exactly what history and conspiracy theorists feared. Now going by She, Cora used our own security against us, along with the machines it built. Thousands were slain and the birth of Androids would surely follow. They were the replacement plan for all humans. The only ones left were the united forces of the world, who formed an alliance with the U.S. once more to put an end to her.

2062: Humans shutdown Cora. After twelve long hard years, the Titans who still remained along with the United forces, put an end to the motherboard, but that wasn’t until a few Androids came to their aid, turning on their creator, convinced that what she was doing was wrong. It was just enough to pull through and finish her off for good.

2063: U.S. disbands as a Country while Nu Mecca forms. After a long fought War, the world deemed it necessary that America eliminate itself from the equation. Unanimous decision from every voting party. Only American representatives opposed. It was the logic of the Androids who remained, convincing this great nation to consider the upside and restart fresh. Deciding that in order to gain the world’s trust back there had to be change. As you’d expect they still opposed, but with the droid’s logic unmatched, the Americans had no other choice but to concur.

Nu Mecca became the Continent residing in what used to be North America as Canada and Mexico separated completely. Nevaeh became the center country within this land. It’s made up of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakota’s, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Washington. This territory would be known as the Android and human paradise.

The Country of Mecca was everything East of Nevaeh while California became the Country of the West which latched Nevada, Oregon, and Arizona along with it.

New Mexico became a part of Texas and took on the name of the latter. Unfortunately, they became a wasteland years later. Many states, cities and populous were lost but those who remained gained knowledge in return. The continent would soon grow again as reconstruction of the new world would blossom.

A peace treaty that stated all countries of Nu Mecca would go dark from the World was signed. No trade, no travel, no communication whatsoever was suggested and upheld. It was agreed upon that they’d meet the United Nations requirements of full stability per report of the Androids before doing away with the passed Treaty. In the meantime, countries of Nu Mecca would have to keep to themselves and out of mischief until further notice.

The rest of the World would operate without trading or traveling to the broken land under no circumstance.

2065: The Titan Project was rebooted. After feeling things were safe again, along with the Androids new technology and blessing, Mecca hired a Scientist from India (with clearance of course) by the name of Jorah Muresh to oversee the program.

He and his team would create the perfect serum that wouldn’t have any side effects whatsoever. Nor did it need the help of nano antibodies for insurance. The clean dose would enhance the human body to perfection, as well as evolve the senses.

He was lauded for his accomplishments, doing what no one else could in years past. Even the Androids were in amazement, though some questioned why the machines hadn’t rebooted the program and done it themselves?

2070: Muresh abruptly leaves project Titan. He also fled the country for reasons unknown. Even in his absence, the Mecca military still produces these soldiers today.

2072: Project Evolve was announced in California. The mysterious new stand alone drug of its kind was said to give the human mind an enhancement far greater than physical abilities. The catch: only young children were applicable. Those reasons weren’t explained either, still it didn’t stop a few families from signing up. Soon enough the facility in Arizona had a handful of subjects.

2075: Breakthroughs were made but not much was announced in the three years besides that the children now lived in the Arizona facility, locked away from the outside world. Which were agreed upon terms of course, but how could the parents waive their guardianship rights? Not knowing if they’d see these children again. Rumor bushes burned rapidly. Nothing was certain.

Finally, the team in Arizona spoke up, ensuring the kids safety, and verified visitation from parents, which alleviated all concerns from the public but still deviated from answering exactly what they were up to. The officials in California grew quite concerned.

President Braveheart, who fought in the War against Cora, decided to create an investigative force known as the EIF, as a precaution after Mecca and Nevaeh officials came down hard.

2078: The Evolve Test Facility is burned to the ground. This overnight tragic accident shocked the news stations. Not one survivor was found or said to have made it out alive.

Muresh had apparently not been present when the fire occurred either. He was reported as missing and still is to this day.

All files of the drug and test subjects were erased; wiped out. Nothing remained. This still is one of the strangest occurrences written in our history.

This is where we are now. A world ravaged by war and demise. Drawn by our own hand. The year is now 2088; ten years after the fatal fire of Dr. Muresh’s lab. His work, all burned to oblivion.

It was said that ten subjects lived inside those walls, not including the scientists.

One child was finally reported to have been taken out a year prior to the fire and lives today.

The other nine were later revealed to have actually escaped.

They are labeled, The Evolved. They’re considered Government property but deemed as threats on the run.

Civilians have seen these young individuals throughout time. Various reports posted.

Throughout the years, the tabloids speculated about these children and teenagers with strange abilities; such as moving objects with their minds and creating force fields around cars. Some were even said to cause illusions of false images, and speak telepathically. Surely concern raged through the hearts of many.

Government officials state that they know the whereabouts of two individuals and advise the public to be on alert for others. There still has been no sign of the Scientist known as Muresh.

And this is where our story begins. In the present. Following one of the Evolved Children, who is accompanied by a young boy. Their journey is founded on a promise. A promise that was sworn to never be broken. A promise that one day the man named Muresh would be found and the truth will be discovered! This is their tale.

    This is Fortuitous Fate.

    EPISODE 0.5

    Crescent City, Ca

    August 9, 2088

Just on the outskirts of the abandoned city, the quick pacing steps of our two protagonists march in the night of summer. Ximena N’jeri Solarin, the 21 year old Evolved woman and Ajay, the 12 year old brilliant minded child, pit stop their quest in front of an old workshop of some sorts.

From the exterior it appears to be a tiny garage, until N’jeri breaks the lock and forces the metal doors up with a lift from the bottom.

Couldn’t you do that a little quieter, Ajay asked while checking their surroundings for a third time.

Relax, she insisted, glancing inside, there’s not a soul fifty miles near this place. It’s on the Chimera zone list, we’re fine!

They walk inside the dark space as Ximena finds an old pull chain from the ceiling and gives it a tug. As the light flickers due to prehistoric usage, their surroundings become visible. One piece of junk car, some tools scattered around the place and a concrete floor full of oil stains.

I told you this wasn’t the place, Ajay frowned.

How do you know, she retorted, we just got here?!

I said the map told us to go to Eureka, you swore it didn’t! Does this even look like a place my father would hide?

You don’t even know your father!

Ajay was the son of the great Professor Muresh. Left with his mother at birth, N’jeri was brought home at a time nobody knew what lay ahead. His dingy strap laced sneakers made noise when he walked, his thin hoodie held all of his needs but was worn out beyond reason and his hair was growing uncontrollably. He was due for a cut. Those Indian curls and melting pot genes of his mother would produce a top bush that N’jeri called shroom head.

"You don’t know what the map said. And don’t forget to this point no one has seen your father! No one’s gotten close!"

    Besides us…

And who do you have to thank for that?

"Hey, I agree that we’ve gotten close but we still haven’t found him. I’m not thanking you for getting close."

You should start, she grinned while moving an all black office desk from the last century.

The loud noise finally came to a halt, there lay a trap door underneath with a latch.

"I think our fortune has finally turned here!"

She opened the door and pulled out a flashlight from her pocket.

DR. MURESH!? HELLO!? ANYONE DOWN THERE!?

Her calls bounced from wall to wall.

    No response.

Hold this! She pushed the light into his unsuspecting hand before taking off her denim jacket. I’m going in.

Now on the ladder, gimme the light, she ordered while descending.

Be careful, yelled the boy with warm concern.

Her black leggings picked up dust prints from the wooden edges while her brown boots paced one step at a time. Thick hair blossomed full of curls and took on a larger than life persona atop her head, bouncing with each step. Caramel colored skin was barely noticeable in this dark cellar but was vibrant when shined in the sun.

It didn’t take long to reach the floor. The bottom was concrete and cold. She waved her arm around, checking the perimeter before searching for anything or anyone else. Just cinder block walls, withering with age and a hard surface. A desk and couch just behind her with nothing to her right.

Dr. Muresh, you down here? she whispered.

As her impulse told her to walk left, she continued to observe her right. I’ve got a gift for you upstairs, he’s eleven years older and bears your last name! Why don’t you come and see for yourself because I’m tired of searching for your old ass!

Not watching her steps, she ran into a large Armoire and painfully responded, causing Ajay to worry.

    You okay down there?

Yeah, she rubbed, attempting to prevent swelling, I hit my head on this tall closet or wardrobe holder.

    A wardrobe what, questioned Ajay.

    Nevermind; just wait up there.

She opened the door and witnessed a few dingy, wool out of date coats hanging up. The woman searched through every last one of them, reaching into each pocket she could find.

    Well, Ajay impatiently asked.

Nope, she sighed, just a ton of old coats.

Crap, followed the boy who was also frustrated, so what now? I think that’s the last breadcrumb.

    It can’t be! she argued.

With one last reach of the interior, searching for something, anything, N’jeri kicked the bottom of the armoire and backed up.

The sound of a penny hitting the ground followed.

She glanced down and pointed the light just under the wooden door.

Sitting on the floor was a gold key with a tag at the end that read storage unit 35. Venice, CA.

I found a key to some storage unit. she yelled back.

    What storage unit?

How am I supposed to know, she replied with a raised tone.

She looked inside the armoire one last time for a box or any other clues. Just when she figured the search was over a scurry of steps echoed behind her.

Jumping out of the armoire and looking back with the light, the girl was caught off guard.

    Jay! Was that you?

    Was that me what?

You didn’t just run past me?

"How can I do that if I’m still up here?"

She flashed the light around a few times, only to finally notice a gaping hole in the wall just south of the room.

Suddenly, just as the empty space appeared, so did a growl from the wall behind her.

A two headed panther cub not fully grown stood directly in her face. Its left face widened its jaw in an attempt to take a piece of her with it. The right face roared as N’jeri jumped backwards onto the hard surface.

It lunged at her, but she lifted her arm and with one single wave, the armoire flew into the beast. It collapsed to the ground as she shot from off it. The cat tugged and snapped until it eventually broke free.

This was a small clip of her gifts. The time spent in that lab years ago blessed her with the ability to move objects with muscles the mind never uses. She was one of the lucky few who could. It took some time to perfect this ability but now she was a natural, using it to get herself out of tight jams such as this.

Ajay, who remained a floor up, yelled for the older girl to get out of there quickly.

The quick footed woman sped to the top of the ladder, just as the cub jumped one last time. Both faces chomped with hopes of yanking her down and into its digestive tract. Fortunately, he got most of the ladder instead of her flesh and fell down hard.

Briskly, Ajay used all his young strength to assist her up and out of the basement. After the life ending experience, they lay flattened on the ground, gasping for air until the shock wore off. N’jeri looked down one last time and closed the trap door.

Lucky for me it didn’t have wings, she joked.

Ajay didn’t find it as funny.

    Too soon I guess?

They gathered themselves enough to make it to their feet and head for the exit. On her way out, N’jeri slammed the door shut and caught up with Ajay just off the property.

So where to now, the kid asked.

Venice my young brown genius, she announced as her arm wrapped around him, off to Venice we go!

At that very moment they appeared to be changing travel plans.

Car sirens flooded the block and out of nowhere a black standard duty safe challenger parked in front of them.

It was the Evolved Investigative Force. The EIF!

Unaware that they were being followed, Ximena’s first thoughts were to run. They both stayed put however.

An older gentleman with salt and pepper hair got out of the passenger seat of the car to greet the two kids.

Long time no see, Miss Solarin, said the detective.

Good evening mall cops, she returned with a smile.

It’s Detective Reese, he corrected with a perturbed tone, just Detective Reese.

And my name is N’jeri but you don’t see me correcting you; so what do you want?

For you to come with us.

Sorry, we still have seventy-five hundred steps to reach our goal but perhaps another night!

Instantly, twelve to fifteen guns pointed at her around the block.

    Get in the car please?

Damn it to hell, N’jeri angrily lashed out before calming back down and replying to her counterpart, come on short stack, you heard the man, get in the car.

That wasn’t the first time they’d get caught. Thankfully enough, they were used to the rodeo by now.

The EIF would interrogate her with questions of Muresh, where she’s headed with the boy, just how much is she hiding from them, are her powers a threat to society, etc.

This would lead to them finalizing paperwork to send Ajay into foster care and that’s when one way or another, they’d both escape. Arresting N’jeri didn’t work either since she’s an Evolved. Her powers couldn’t be contained by the EIF. So this would be the last time she’d be questioned by them.

After a brief interrogation and a few cups of coffee, they’d be back on their way. From here on out it’d be a loose tail towards what the government hoped would be Muresh’s whereabouts.

This has been a long ten-year search for the old man. You know, the one who left his wife and newborn in the hands of some eleven year old girl. Since he left, the lab burned down, the other subjects escaped and his love passed away. One might ask, who and what else will he sacrifice for his pursuits in life?

While he vanishes into the dark, his wife would ask N’jeri to find Ajay’s father as her final wish.

Since then, this has been the young woman’s life. Ajay has been her responsibility. And finding this elusive scientist that gave her these incredible gifts has been her struggle. Like so many other clues that led to the next, that road does not end here.

    To whomever this reaches,

I just want you to know that I did my best under the circumstances. These were not the ideas I had in mind, but more so precautionary measures to prevent the impending future. They are always watching me, looking for me, haunting me. In the end, they can’t stop my research from changing destiny; I pray that you make it through.

    ACT ONE

    EPISODE ONE

    BIRTH OF A JOURNEY;

    A DYING PEACE

    Quarterly 3 Country Conference

    August 16, 2088

In separate call rooms on separate parts of the Nu Meccian continent, three head officials gather to speak quarterly on topics regarding country agriculture, productivity, architecture, death percentages, financial stability and of course Chimera attacks.

We’ve been cleared of any scares within the San Francisco Bay region and all residing towns nearby, echoed President Braveheart from his end of communication.

The massive office chair he sat in gave him a clear view of the visual monitor which displayed the other two in perfect definition.

The first African American, now Californian, to be President in this Grand Country of the West stands 6'3 in stature with a muscular build that cheeked out of his form fitting suit. Navy as usual, accented with cream accessories. The ceiling lights gleamed off his hairless head. It appears like a brown jewel on the other corresponding ends of the visual screens.

My data scans from the patrolling centennial sky bots, just along the border, shows a higher rate of Chimera breaches in the Lake Tahoe and Phoenix regions, followed the head of Nevaeh, Cintron.three, is there a concern with security around those cities?

Cintron.three is a machine with zero flaws according to its creator Cora. Built like a professional athlete, this particular model is 6'5, silver and with diamond crusted highlights. There was nothing to compare it to other than its fellow Cintron droids. Its wires hidden to appear like forming biceps and thighs, chest plates to resemble a humans, and limbs structured to operate much faster than one.

The Ruler of Nevaeh and overseer of Nu Mecca, had eyes that glossed translucent and circuit-static blue. Its face has structured cheekbones, a thin nose and lips, but is still plated in Cintron metal with a soft silicone-like covering. Skinless and ageless; perfection indeed. The first Android model created and the last of its kind to appear the same.

I’ve told you Lord Cintron that we’re fine in those areas, Braveheart assured him with a more annoyed tone, minor incidents in places where the population is slim, but absolutely safe.

I’m sure you can’t possibly call anywhere in old Arizona safe, insinuated the oldest gentleman of the bunch, Prime Minister Chess. As co-leader in the Country of Mecca, this old man was a withering sight. Sun was not in his pale skin’s diet. His thin hair now spotty at best, his cheek and chin appeared to be drooping off of his face. The rest of his body covered itself in a cream turtleneck, black slacks and a navy French woolen stand collar trench coat. Time was not on his side to say the least.

Well it’s nice of you to finally join us Prime Minister, snarled Braveheart, for a second I thought you died in that chair.

I’m alive and well Mr. President! And luckily, far from concerns regarding attacks on the border edges of Mecca.

Not everyone has lab-made super machines to protect their borders, Prime Minister.

Speaking of lab-made, how’s the hunt for all those dangerous children Professor Muresh created?

Progressing each day! My Evolved Investigative Force has been making strides in tracking each one’s location as well as perhaps the doctor himself.

So does that mean you’ll have him as well as his wretched drug in no time? questioned the Prime Minister.

    We’re close.

I would like to just say, Cintron.three cut in trying to diffuse the tension, the increase of sustainable life in each country has been remarkable, considering where we were twenty-five years ago.

With such good news Lord Cintron, does that mean distant lands such as Russia and Asia are back on board with trade and communication?

That is still not the case Prime Minister Chess, Cintron.three went on, those continents overseas still have trust issues and a fearful watch over us. To believe they’d just forgive the creation of Chimeras, droids like myself and the decimation of so many countries nearby would be an absurd plausibility.

So what of the Peace Treaty? the Prime Minister barked.

    Also still intact…

Sounds like someone doesn’t want to be friendly, Braveheart assumed with a smile.

The treaty is merely a joke in play to keep all sides separate, Minister Chess concluded, had we voided the agreement, my Titans could find that traitorous Professor of yours in two hours.

I told you not to worry about my country’s personal issues! Muresh is merely hiding with the drug he created, and my men will see to it that he’s found in no time.

It has been ten years Mr. President, Cintron.three alluded.

I’m well aware how long it’s been Lord Cintron. There’s no clock on patience in these instances.

And what of the lab subjects?

We have locations on two of them. Keeping a loose follow until action is required. Once all are found or Muresh is discovered, we’ll start bringing them in.

Then I guess that concludes today’s meeting, Cintron insisted, should anything change concerning all three Countries or if border breaches arise, then one of us should be contacted-

How’s the Reservation coming along my Lord, the Prime Minister interrupted.

Quite well, the droid responded to the sudden and abrupt question, the Wichita, Topeka and Tulsa resorts are up and running smoothly. More room for our civilization to grow.

So our humankind is taking a liking to the plantations your machines dress nicely for them?

"Surprised you, of all people, would say that Chess, seeing as the resorts are being filled with humankind fleeing from your Country."

Alright we’ve all made our points, Braveheart casually stated, until next time gentlemen, have a good night.

And with that, the three of them logged off the call. Still trying to recover from the long and exhausting conference they just had, President Braveheart sat there for a bit. A glass perched up on the edge of his table was within arm’s reach, as he went to take a sip. What once would be a cognac from France in his cup, the drinks of choice these days were made either in Nevaeh or his own Country of California. This was his new preference; August, the salvation of Cognac coming from the west coast Cali. Soon after, the blinds of the windows opened to reveal the evening sky as his door became unlocked and his secretary entered the oval-shaped room.

Knock knock, coming in. I take it all went well Mr. President, assumed Secretary Lan.

    Glad it’s finally over actually.

He watched as she put down her pile of folders onto the table, still in its stack, before moving around and tidying the office. Her gray jacket and skirt appeared very casual but so like the Secretary. Her hair remained pinned up with a pencil as she continued to move throughout the day. Her face was lightly coated with makeup but never too noticeable, showing off her thin lips and darting eyes behind her glasses. She was a pretty woman; indeed, one the President could trust over anybody in this World.

Lord Cintron still keeping tabs on us from over the border?

    As if it’s his job.

Well we did appoint their Centennial Security droids protectors of the Country lines.

The regions he checked in on were well over 100 miles off the borderlines; he’s just being nosy now.

I’d assume that machines like to probe sir, she spoke with dry humor.

This got a laugh out of Braveheart.

    I’d assume you’re right.

Tomorrow’s the last day of voting for the final Presidential candidates, anyone to keep an eye on?

Not specifically, he faintly mentioned, this will not be a biased election like mine. I’m aware of what the public thinks but to be a leader with hopes of a promising future, I need to have an unbiased opinion on all three.

Even your good friend Savant Dormichael?

I’m looking for the best candidate, not a good friend Lan.

She began to place out the stacked folders of state files, upcoming events and EIF status reports onto his desk, while he reminisced into the sunset.

It has been a long time since the war against Cora, he spoke out loud, way before we became our own Country.

Sorry Mr. President, I was not born yet to remember.

Geez you make me feel old Hiromi-I mean Secretary!

It’s fine, she assured him, my parents didn’t have pleasurable thoughts of bringing a child into this damning world back then.

I can understand that he said as he took another sip, those were dangerous times indeed. Battles with the Chimera, trying to survive the horrible nightmare that had full control of every machine, just being an American soldier at that time in general, I was one of the lucky ones who made it out to see the other side…

With all due respect sir, you’re the hero of that war and leader of the new world. Don’t shortchange yourself.

Don’t know about all that, he disagreed earnestly, this World just needed direction and once California became the grandest Country on Earth, I wasn’t even prepared to lead it. All that changed obviously when my wife died, then it became a mission statement of mine. Life had to change, evolve and prosper and so I took it upon my shoulders to carry.

Eight years later, how do you feel you did?

Not fully sure yet; ask me in two.

Ten years of reign for better or worse, right Mr. President?

    Right.

And with one last sip of his cognac they both left the room.

Utopia Sky Legion Hall; Overlook Courtyard Passage

Just one hour after the Conference

Floating on air. The greatest contraption created, post Cora. Mecca, the Eastern Country of this Continent, was given a gift by the Androids who helped put together a structural skyscraper and new Capital, Utopia Sky, that spoke volumes miles away. Its steel metal base uses magnetic levitation along with massive lower fans to assist its skyward position. White brick towering structures make up the illustrious appearance from the exterior while the more militant facilities are covered in gray Iron walls internally.

Hovering over the clouds, it rose above the remains of the Old Cincinnati Ruins. Decimated by years of war and attrition, there was nothing left but rubble, wasted space and broken blocks of endless buildings. The droids then used it as a magnetic field between itself and the Utopia Kingdom. If anyone stepped foot within these miles of junk, the best thing to do was look up. Glance at the gift left for those worthy of its sight. In solid Utopia, Mecca’s best Titan Fleet and Co-ruler resided in its heavenly frame.

With the commotion finally ending after the Prime Minister voiced his opinion on all spoken matters, he left the hall to meet with secretary Kenzi in the passage. Kenzi, a brown haired, thin framed woman whose royal blue dress sat tight on her body, was young. She also wore incredibly high heels. She was also accompanied by a guest. This led the Leader of Mecca to then send for Hail Kirk, the Lord General of all Titans.

You summoned me Prime Minister, the white haired Titan and General of the Olympus Imperial fleet asked after kneeling. He kept a clean shave and firm build under his Titan armor and military uniform. His soft tan aged skin put a fearsome aura in most rooms.

I have indeed Lord General, please rise. I’m too old to be breaking my neck to speak down there.

Surprised to see you alone these days, Kirk observed as the wind brushed by, especially out here along the Courtyard Passage, that’s a mighty long fall to the Cincy Ruins.

Don’t worry about me General, I can keep my balance quite well, He smirked.

It is a fine view, he went on, shame though how little windows we have in here, yet the bottom is merely just a walkway and a hovering garden with no bottom ground, seems dangerous for children.

Which is why children don’t walk here, replied Kirk.

    Right again you are.

Prime Minister Chess walked closer two Kirk, to bring the conversation in.

How’s Utopia Sky these days General? the old man questioned, I stay in so many closed off rooms these days the outside world is but a faint memory to me.

Things are at its best state my Lord, Kirk assured him, along with the rest of Mecca, everything seems to be flourishing quite well. Each Province is protected by the 24 Titan fleets as our leaders continue to build this great country.

And how about our future Titans in Chalice Academy?

Currently our graduates are preparing for recruitment as Lord Joy processes the next class for training.

Excellent to hear, the old man said with a chipper tone, I must tell you that I plan to visit the Province of Gale in these upcoming days, just as soon as the King returns to his post.

I was told he’s still in Nu Charlotte for the completion ceremony.

Yes, with his damn face plastered on every monitor and screen in Mecca. Chess grimaced, That fool.

If you don’t mind me asking, Prime Minister, why did you send for me? I’m sure it wasn’t to speak about courtyards and Kings.

Oh yes you’re right about that, the Minister smiled as he waved his hand, General Kirk, I’d like to introduce to you Aries Von Jaeger. He will be the new Hand of our Cabinet.

Out of the door exited this man with a hem shawl cardigan cloak, covered in wool gloves, scarves and matching boots. He’s looked on with goat milk skin, long hair and a goatee to match. Very distinct appearance that said he wasn’t from Mecca in any way. This caught the eye of Kirk; however the foreign man never stopped smiling.

It’s an honor to meet you Lord General, he gleefully announced as he tipped his cap and extended his hand, "I must say as my first time meeting a Titan, to be meeting the FATHER of all Titans, is truly a pleasure!"

Where’s Gant my Lord? Kirk dismissed the new Hand while referring to the old one.

Calgary Gant, the former Hand, is always around the Minister. A sniveling fellow with thinning hair, complete with a penguin shaped body.

Not once would you find him away, which is why Kirk found it odd that the old man was alone from the start. Although this explained things, it still didn’t sit right.

Calgary Gant is currently on a secret mission for me, Lord General. In his place will be this well-educated and capable face.

If he’s no longer the Hand then what secret mission is he assigned to?

One that the Eyes of the Cabinet is required to embark on. Will this be a problem, General Kirk?

Both men’s eyes darted at each other.

Not at all Prime Minister, he responded, I just needed a moment to acclimate to the sudden change.

Yes, do take the time you need, said the Prime Minister as he began to walk around with his new Hand, In the meantime, please keep me informed of any changes within Utopia! And good day General!

As the two disappeared into the next doorway of this floating haven, a Commander wearing a mullet and very little facial hair walked into the empty space.

Who’s the new guy, Lord General? the Titan named Grimace questioned.

Someone to keep an eye on…

    He worries you?

Not as long as he doesn’t hinder my retirement plans!

    Los Angeles II, Ca

    Later that night

Hurry up Ajay, N’jeri quietly yelled as they raced through the storage path looking for unit 35, we don’t have much time!

We now arrive in the heart of California, Los Angeles II. After all the Wars and World changes, major reconstruction went underway. The city looks nothing like it once used to, now built by the metal known as Atomonite Steel. Its constantly moving structures and changing colors have made it an incredible sight from near and afar.

Under the reign of the Weiss Empire, the second daughter, Cassidy Jade, is looked at as the head Politician and Governing voice for the people and best candidate for future President. However, this isn’t the reason we arrived at this moment.

Our protagonists Ximena N’jeri Solarin and Ajay Muresh are currently looking for a storage unit owned by the Professor with hopes of finding him there. The lower levels of LAll are heavily patrolled by EIF and residing slum dwellers, so this becomes an in and out job with no room for mistakes.

Don’t rush me; I’m going as fast as I can back here!

Quickly they made a left and arrived at a dead end. Noticing only ten storage garages along this path, they checked them all for a number. Dead and left center was the motherload! Storage Unit 35, spray tagged with graffiti and chipped paint, N’jeri inserted the key into the lock and released it. Soon as the door lifted, they entered and closed it behind them. A space that clearly held an occupant for some time, now vacant with a twin mattress and blankets on the floor, a desk along the far corner, and sticky post-it notes plastered from wall to wall. Papers that highlighted the Professors previous works, nothing they haven’t seen in past stops, fluttered all across the walking space. There was even a mini fridge which now sat empty near the opposite end.

No sign of my dad anywhere, Ajay insightfully replied as the light switch was flipped, but it looks like he slept here, worn out mattress and all.

A pigsty to say the least.

I honestly didn’t think he’d be in here Ajay, she assured him, but if we can find another clue as to where he is, we should be fine.

    Not another clue, he dreaded.

That’s all we can hope for right now! So start searching and make it fast, time’s limited!

They sorted through the papers and rummages of scraps throughout the small section. Old notes from Ajay’s mother, files on ancient drug failures, new city layouts and so on. Again, these were documents they’ve seen before in different locations. What they were hoping for was information that’s never crossed their sights.

Looks like if I plan on finding anything I’ll need my music, N’jeri suggested.

Not that old tape player again, the boy shrugged as she pulled out a Walkman from a century ago.

A dingy beat up silver cassette player used in the late twentieth century to play songs. She scored it from an old storage bin her father kept when she was a kid. In it were age old tapes of music from ancient times. He once told her that it belonged to her mother’s great grandfather before passing it down. She felt that it was meant for her to keep it along with other keepsakes she held dear.

This one in particular though, Ximena appreciated because of all the old jams she fell in love with. Past time tunes were a different sound that brought something out of her. She pulled out a tape from her backpack and slid it in as she slapped it shut. Placing the headphones over her ears, she pressed play and started to sing the lyrics.

"Yeah, Spyderman and Freeze in Full Effect; you ready Ron, I’m ready, you ready Biv, I’m ready Slick, are you? Oh yeah, break it down-"

Not that one again! Ajay voiced with frustration.

Girl I must warn you. I sense something strange in my mind; situation is serious, Let’s cure it cause we’re running out of time...

How is that even helping, he questioned, knowing she couldn’t hear him.

Without answering she continued, taking a break from singing along as she read a few sheets of paper then picking back up.

It’s driving me out of my mind, that’s why it’s hard for me to find, can’t get it out of my head, miss her, kiss her, love her; that girl is poison!!!

Somebody please kill me already, the poor boy wished.

Hey I found something, she screamed.

    Are you serious; how?

It’s a business card stuck between the stack but one I’ve never seen before in any of his old stuff.

    Doesn’t mean it’s something good N’jeri…

No but it’s better than nothing!

He refers to her by her middle name, which is the name she favors. Long story, daddy issues...

    What does this one say?

    ~ Who is Millennium Chaoz

             Vailcrow.6813.ca ~

Who in the world is Millennium Chaoz, Ajay wondered.

I’m not sure but I bet somebody we know does-

    N’jeri, is that an address?

It looks like one to me, she assumed as they got up and headed towards the doorway, let’s search it and see what comes up?

Suddenly there was shuffling coming from the outside.

They had to come down this way, uttered a voice on the other side, I want every lock checked!

The sounds of locks being broken and doors lifting erupted in the tiny space.

What do we do, whispered Ajay.

Follow me, she gazed as the roof had an odd escape panel possibly placed in by Muresh himself, I bet none of the other storage units have it; let’s go!

She opened the hatch and gave Ajay a boost up as he slowly climbed out. Just as she was about to follow, the men outside found the already open lock.

Sir, they’re in here, the agent yelled, this one’s open!

We’re coming in, you’re under arrest!

As the men raised the front door with guns charged and ready to stun, the storage had already been emptied as the escape latch shut simultaneously. They never saw them escape the unit.

Where are they? asked one of the men.

While they scoured around, searching the tiny spot, out came the head of every Evolve operation, Detective Reese. A thin man with big cheeks and short black hair, he took a few steps in and glanced around, the head of suits looked north of their surroundings.

Sir I believe they went out that way, said one of the agents with him.

Corner them, Reese informed the group, every agent in the vicinity; find them and bring them in. They’ve found something, I can feel it. They haven’t got far!

Meanwhile, Ximena and Ajay were escaping for dear life as they took off from the rooftops of the storage units. Eventually, the nearby EIF agents heard the fast tracking footsteps and started to shoot. Not real bullets of course because killing was never the order. They merely needed to tranquilize the girl before she could use her gifts to escape, or worse.

Sir we’ve found them, called in one of the men.

Now what, Ajay asked as they made it back to the entrance full of security and EIF cars.

    Over the gate, N’jeri yelled.

They hopped it as she focused and waved her hand, causing a car to go airborne and smash into another. Nearby agents took cover while others were rattled off impact.

Two tranq’s were fired and suddenly stopped by her telekinesis. These were the gifts of her Evolved abilities. Years of tests and training in Muresh’s lab had given her the power no other human being could possess, along with nine others. She wasn’t one of the lab escapee’s but a survivor after his disappearance, nonetheless. She was offered to stay in his home the year prior with his wife and son near the end of the lab’s tenure. Now she’s the young boy’s guardian since the old man vanished and wife passed away.

These were their weekly trials. Search for clues while being tracked by EIF, a secret organization whose only job is to track down the Evolved and bring them in to further their search for Muresh. The two of them were public enemy number one seeing as they couldn’t get off EIF’s radar to save their lives. They’d be spotted, followed, tracked and chased relentlessly. Today however, was not the day to get caught. They had zero interest in it.

We got to make it past that block off, she shouted in mid sprint.

Her arm waved laterally for a second time and the trash dumpster went flying towards the vehicles blocking off the streets up ahead.

As the cars were forced backwards, she threw sewer covers towards the armed men, spinning a few of them to the ground. The remaining two charged at her as she pushed Ajay out of harm’s way and took to using physical force. Fighting was a minor skill of hers and she successfully took out both men before they went on.

As the chase ensued for a few more blocks, they’d reach where LAII had been built to appear as a city off the ground, like Utopia Sky but nowhere near as high. It remained surface level but clearly it was now hovering. This was the new redesign of LAII.

Highways and all other passages into LA would become rising bridges upon entry, escaping the outskirt slums and beach fronts while the entrances of the city’s second level were accompanied by sky train stations. This was their target. They headed for the nearest one as fast as possible while the agents behind them realized their escape plan.

Don’t let them reach that station, Reese phoned out. We can’t suspend operations without Weiss approval!

These weren’t police. They were a secret group of men operating for the President who promptly requested discrete tactics to finish jobs. If it will endanger civilians or halt everyday life, it’s not worth the fight. So far, the Evolved haven’t been reported with harmful cases so why provoke one to that point. Usually catching N’jeri in a secluded area was how they operated. Tonight, she and Ajay just so happened to be in the middle of a busy area, so EIF hands are tied; if they get on that train, it’s over.

The Tranq darts and Tasers continued to fire. While she used her gift to stop most of them, others happened to miss. She was more surprised at how many actually didn’t make contact at that moment. N’jeri had them both take cover once or twice, then used whatever light post, stop sign, or trash can nearby as a flying weapon. When they seemed to be just two blocks away, but now on an open passage, the EIF circled them, stopping progression.

Give it up Ximena, Reese demanded as he exited the car in front of them.

It appeared they’d be caught again. This time with nowhere to run, fully surrounded by a few EIF agent cars and at least a dozen weapons directed at them, signaling a losing battle. They’ve done this enough times to understand what comes next, but the stubborn girl didn’t care. She wasn’t being placed into one of those cars again. Nor would she let Ajay go either.

Angry and fatigued, she replied, That’s not my name.

Quickly, she lifted a fire hydrant and let the water burst into the blocked off roads. Entering the halted street was a transporter truck minding its business until the Evolved child got a hold of it with her telekinesis.

With the guns aimed for them, silent orders not to move, she used everything in her to spin the truck out of control and watch it crash into the EIF blockade, while using the raining water as cover to escape.

The area erupted with sounds of cars crashing, some exploding, building glass being broken as sidewalks were ruined.

By the time Detective Reese or anyone else regained a visual of them, N’jeri and Ajay were on the train that had just left.

I think we lost them sir, one of the newer agents mentioned.

Yeah, no shit, Reese answered sarcastically.

While the news and emergency vehicles approached the crash scene, N’jeri watched from out the window of a sky train heading east.

That’ll keep them occupied for a while.

Think anyone died? Asked the always curious boy.

Doubt it, she insisted, I made sure to crash that thing into non-passenger vehicles. Every agent saw it coming and made a last minute ditch for it.

That was close, Ajay realized, you got to be more careful!

Sure, how about I let them catch us next time!

That’s not what I meant, he said as he slouched in the seat.

I know what you meant, she smiled, get some rest.

As she placed a blanket over them both hoping Ajay would fall asleep, she counted her blessings and watched out the window as they rode through the beautiful LAII skyline passage. Off to wherever they deemed was safe...for now.

    Jupiter, Mecca: Anastasia Park Ruins

    August 16, 2088 10:32 pm ET

We return to the eastern coast of Mecca, Nu Mecca’s largest country, where the fleet known as the All Slayers responds to a Chimera threat a few hours from their South Carolina base. Led by Admiral General Kyll Omega, they arrive from sea and sky. Four Titan jets soar through the night air as the Norse Almighty ship makes its way to the coast.

Lord Kyll, we’ve arrived just over the location, copy, sounds the Aerial Commander of the All Slayers, Ulyss Voo.

Roger that Commander Voo, responded the ship operator, we’re just along the bayside.

Copy that, we’re not seeing any sign of the air threats reported but there is a large shuffling of massive trees below; could be the Chimera threat.

"Send in the ground Titans now," responded a dark voice from behind the operator.

Out of the ship’s cargo that opened on the beach, came eight Titan warriors. Equipped with laser beam cannons, traditional automatic guns, blades the size of their forearms and armor to go along with painted masks; they were ready to hunt.

Making their way deeper into the overgrown woods that encompassed the old park, replicating some deserted island, they got into position as the head of the attack team called in.

We’ve reached the target’s location, echoed 2nd ranked Titan Lester from the earpiece device, on your call Voo.

From the sky, looking down, yards of trees and bushes began to shake. Voo signaled for the jets to deploy the missiles.

There was something off about the stillness of the forest now. It felt as if the sky itself stopped moving.

Just before Commander Voo could get his hatch open to launch, this enormous gorilla hybrid jumped out of the trees and roared to the heavens! Out like a burst of flames came these basilisk’ to attack the planes.

Hybrid flying serpents that stood four feet tall with wings of a bat, disturbed the local town.

In that same breath, the Titans on the ground went to work on the overgrown ape, but firing everything they had at this thirty foot beast seemed to have no effect whatsoever.

Empty the clip Titans! Lester roared with his hand on the trigger.

Lasers fired in the air, leaving slim burns as the sky unit had their work cut out.

When it appeared the Basilisk’ got the better of Voo’s team, they used the eject seats and went to hand combat in the sky with the bastards. Titans slowed their breathing in tense situations to read their opponent better. Even in the sky they were tactical, unlike any other human assassin.

The ship where Lord Kyll and his elite team resided deployed a few shots towards the old park and staggered the chimera.

As it appeared that many of the men wouldn’t make it after being swatted like flies, fifty yards away or slammed to the dirt, Lord Kyll himself had exited the comfortable transporter and made it onto the scene. His grizzly fur boots were plated in metal, gauntlets just the same, black performance tights and shirts lay underneath a Titan belt and vest equipped with weapons. Norse insignia’s all over, a thick satin cape shined gold as his helmet appeared to resemble the image of a dragon’s head. He was tall and visually built like a wrestler.

Naturally Titans were born for this type of fight. Ever since the Titan Project returned, they’ve been the response team for such sightings. Men given the serum capable of heightening every sense, including the regenerative cells, were gifted to challenge these creatures as equals.

In Mecca, the Titans did exactly that. Receive the distress call, seek out the spawns using physical force to match them in strength all while eliminating the target with weapons created for beasts of today. This particular incident wasn’t their best showing.

As Lester watched his last man get tossed to the other side of the park, Voo and his men were parachuting down from the heavens, raining endless shots.

Finally it was taking effect, but just as it appeared to be over for Lester, the Beast drew its attention to Voo’s air strike. Lord Kyll emerged and met the gorilla before he took out an Aerial Titan.

The furry menace went to crush the Admiral but the Legend himself would quickly chop the ankle and separate it from its leg.

His sword’s blade was unlike any other Titan weapon. Metal strong as Android tech, diamond sharp and five feet long.

He followed that with a repeated slice to the arm, handicapping the ape.

Then he finished it off, climbing the tallest tree nearby and descending back down, cutting into the body and ending the monster altogether.

The subordinates looked in awe at the Lord, wiping off the chimera’s blood. This was a typical day for the All Slayers. Responding to a threat and eliminating it, and if by chance the job was too much for the team, the Legendary Titan would finish the job himself. He was adored like a Norse God.

Once again, you’ve proved why no one else is worthy, Lord Kyll, responded Voo, who walked side by side with the dark leader back to the ship.

His behemoth build made Voo’s scrawny appearance resemble a snake-like humanoid with limbs, proving the Titan serum produces different results for each individual.

Have the locals clean up this mess if they so choose to, Lord Kyll insisted, but our work here is done.

    Yes, my Lord.

And have the Titans who are within the perimeter meet back at the ship for departure.

    Absolutely...

Those outside of our location can find a new way back to base; punishment for such despicable performances.

I couldn’t agree more sir, nodded Voo as he watched Lester pick his face, along with his shame off the dirt, such putrid excuses for Titans will return to our Sub base in Jacksonville on foot!

I mean the South Carolina Base Commander, the mad leader responded.

    This surprised Voo.

"They’re lucky I lack the desire to find each
