About this ebook
Victor Gastelum, known for the artwork he did for numerous Calexico releases, branches out with his first collection of abstract images. Robert Vodicka, former label manager at New Alliance Records, wrote the text. Gastelum and Vodicka used chance procedures to match the specific images to the text. The book also features an interview with Gastelum and Vodicka, conducted by Dennis Callaci of Bamboo Dart Press and Shrimper Records.

Shaolin Days and DeKalb Nights - Victor Gastelum
I have known Victor for more than 30 years, and loved his art for almost that long (it took him awhile before he would show it to me). When he said that he would let his art accompany my words, I was happy and flattered. To select the words that appear in this book, I chose the number of phrases to match the number of pages in the book. I printed the phrases and cut them into individual strips.
