The Nanbian Sea - Jeremy I Bernstein

    Chapter 1

"T he water shores off the Nanbian Sea"

The three suns were slowly setting on the horizon, as Debol walked along the beach, with green sand beneath his feet, it had been a mistake to trust those Garbouls, Garbouls for those who don't know are short sneaky creatures who like to pretend to help only so they can rob, and then melt the goods they stole as to make a special fuel known as Pegull, but we will get to that much later.

Debol was a Xanoid, sort of weird creature with black hair two eyes but no nose, a wide permanent smile on its mouth and round tip teeth, three little ears: two on each side and one round the back of its neck, four hands, two legs and a short brown colored tail with a luminous yellow coloring on its tip.

Xanoid's are a proud race but gullible, and at times a bit stupid, they come from the planet Reball, where they are only the third smartest race, which doesn't really matter to them as the other two races are much too busy becoming better and better by competing against each other, they improve the planet all the time. The planet is in a quadrant that houses at least twelve hospitable planets, meaning there is life on them, but not all are friendly.

The beach Debol was on was nowhere near his home planet, in fact it was not sure where it was, yet Debol seemed at peace, it looked at the suns as they set and decided to sit down.

Suddenly, there was a flash of light within the sky above as a ball of fire raced down into the sea, splashed down causing a large wave which reached the shore; though Debol was now drenched by the wave, it was more interested as to the globe bouncing up and down coming towards him, suddenly there was a crack emerging from the inside followed by a small explosion, a creature jumped out into the water a swam towards Debol.

    "Deep in the Nanbian jungle"

Several miles inland from the Nanbian Sea, lay the heart of the jungle, this was no ordinary average jungle, and there were lots of various luminous green plants all around, the creatures that lay in this jungle were very small and most were camouflaged. There were only two creatures really dangerous: The Sauty-Bead a small bird-like creature that spits poison, they live in packs of ten, and the Pentrkon a snake-like creature though it is very small it can trap and swallow up bait to five times its size until it has been fully digested. The only problem is there are much too many of them about, which is why the jungle doesn’t have many visible creatures.

"We will return you to the Nanbian endurance show after a word from our sponsors",

You watching that shit on the monitor again?

Jose shouted at Sean in his heavy Mexican accent, Sean was just out of college and besides had just undergone a three-week course for security guards, the truth was he was just killing time so he could save up money for his trip to Europe as well as traveling on to the Far East.

Within a small room lay a switchboard staring at a wall with over fifty monitors receiving online feeds from closed-circuit television cameras all across the factory floor, a factory that produces metal parts for jeeps.

The factory housed three major hangars which served as the production floors and two small buildings which were the offices.

Sean looked up at the monitor and faced back at his mobile TV monitor it was hardly 7'' inches yet the resolution on it was amazing not to mention that it had the standard 4D smells and spray experience.

Nothing going on as usual, Jose, Sean looked up at Jose I really don't see the problem, Sean said with a smile,

Jose had entered the room from the small kitchenette with his cup of coffee, you're on duty now, so keep your face glued to the correct monitors on the wall

Jose had been on the job for over three years and was expecting a promotion sometime soon; he would not have anybody screwing up his chance for that, especially since he and his wife were expecting their third child.

Outside, parked a utility van, inside this van sat one man on a computer with three screens, two men with ski masks, and at a telephone box just beside the van, stood a woman fixing up a device on the wires, try it now, she whispered on her 12WD earpiece – it was the latest technology as it could not only communicate with the team but also give her the tuning of bandwidths for disruption of all communication types, quite useful in their line of business.

It works, now move, said the man next to the computer to the two masked men.

The woman put on her mask and joined them as they crossed the road, and cut the wires to the fence, a light blinked on the switchboard next to Sean who was still well into his show, but the man on the computer in the van fixed it quickly with three strokes of the keys on his keyboard in front of him, the cameras were now feeding previous footage in ten-minute loops to the security center.

The three had entered the courtyard and made their way to the oldest large building, waiting for the signal from the man in the van, when received they proceeded to open the door, as they crept in quietly and made their way to an old machine near the end of the factory floor, the building itself was 0.25 miles long and 0.10 miles wide, with just one floor, the door was on one end and the old machine was on the left-hand side near the far end, they quickly ran through the room and once on the other end, one of the men pulled a lever, a piece of the floor moved to one side revealing a staircase going down, they turned on the small flashlight fixed to the top of their masks and made their way downwards.

At the end of the staircase stood a large steel door with a large steel wheel like those found on submarines, the door was shiny and new, there was a panel on the side with a ten-digit and letter combination, as well as retina and handprint scan.

The woman moved up and connected a handheld device which was hooked in online to the man in the van, to the side of the panel, the man in the van who in turn remained very serious throughout had the device connect itself to the panel as to upload his special virus which would open the steel door.

The door opened, they walked in, where there was a small room with three computer terminals, the three sat down and begun entering a series of codes. Each had received through their individual earpiece as dictated by the man in the van.

The security alarm board lit up once the three had entered the small room, Sean had no idea what those lights meant, but Jose, sat down and held his head between his hands,

We are so screwed he whimpered,

    What just happened?

Sean was puzzled he didn't receive any instructions on those lights on the side, in fact, he was told to disregard them and not ask any questions on the matter.

Jose sat up and made a call, he spoke softly and calm, turned around to Sean

    Come with me.

They went past the weapons box and pulled out two Berettas, Jose who felt he had nothing to lose, and Sean who was scared to death, as he had no idea what he was to do, this was supposed to be an easy job to save up some money, and now he is holding a gun, going up against some unknown characters, usually in these situations he would be the first to get shot as he is an inexperienced newbie.

The three had now entered the codes, a large piece of land opened up just outside the building, and the two security officers were again caught off guard to the fact and one of them almost fell in, as it opened before them, Both Sean and Jose, jumped to the ground and then ran towards the large building, meanwhile a loud noise rose from beneath the ground as two large missiles began their ascent.

This is supposed to be a jeep factory, not a military base Sean shouted, as the missiles made a tremendous screeching noise, Jose shouted back,

Who the hell do you think the Jeeps are for....???

As Sean and Jose entered the building, the three had planted two explosive devices in between the three consoles, closed the steel door, and made their way up the stairs, Jose and Sean didn't think twice shot all three of them on sight; they emptied their entire cartridges on all three of them. It was a ‘shoot first and ask questions later’ scenario.

The man in the van, moved from the back into the driver’s seat and sped off as fast as he could, Jose had managed to exit the building to see the back of the van, but it was too far gone to see anything that could be used to identify it, still, they now had three bodies on the floor.

    Chapter 2

General Stork was a three-star general, who had a weird sense of humor, in which he liked to make morbid jokes from time to time, he was fond of zombie movies from the 1950s, and was a great believer in the conspiracy of area 51, even though he was part of the military, he knew that if he did ever find out the truth he would never tell a soul, a true patriot, it was why he joined up in the first place. He wanted to get as close as he could to know the truth, to see why the government kept it a secret.

But enough of the silly business, this was serious, two missiles had been hurdled towards space – the funny thing about them was their trajectory, it was way out of the earth's atmosphere, the questions the lay before him were" who? what? And why? Who set off the missiles? What purpose does it serve? And why now? These were the questions that were of interest to him, the factory was full of people from the press surrounding the perimeter as both regular and military police had closed off the area. The factory owner and general manager were already inside, as the head of security was receiving a mouthful from both.

The general's vehicles pulled up just between the large hole and the main factory hangar, he lunged out of his car followed by his entourage, roughly ten service personnel who went with him everywhere.

He then proceeded into the hangar, the steel door was locked, and the charges were still set to go off inside.

Stork had a bad feeling when he touched the first stair on his way down, it grew as he moved downwards, he stopped in his tracks, something was wrong,

EVERY ONE OUT OF THE BUILDING NOW he shouted.

Everyone ran out of the building, nothing happened. He turned to one of his officers Get me the police liaison officer,

    Yes, sir was the response.

He immediately turned around and ran towards the gate.

The liaison officer in charge of liaison between the Police and Army approached the general with a serious look, as he just received a mouthful from a police captain who was annoyed that a place that was rightfully in their jurisdiction had been taking over by the Army.

Yes general, how can I assist,

A bomb squad snapped General Stork

And as soon as possible, as I don’t know how long we have and how much explosives there are, also make sure one of them knows how to open that steel door he took to the office next to the opening of the staircase and set the large flashlight on the steel door from above.

Fine, anything else, the officer looked like he really wasn't pleased with taking these orders to the police captain since the captain showed no intention of giving up on jurisdiction but the captain also understood that there are some things that are also beyond him and now was not a good time to take responsibility, if the Army wants to clean up a mess then, by all means, let them.

The General turned to the officer who was new to his entourage,

By the way what should I call you,

    Call me Lt. Dubbs.

Well Lt. Dubbs, I think we should clear the entire area of citizens for their own safety, as I don't know how big and dangerous the explosion might be should the boys fail.  Lt. Dubbs understood that there was no time to waste and walked out towards the gate.

Sean and Jose sat in a small room, it was now four AM, Jose turned to Sean We're in the shit now, Sean lifted his head

I don't know about you, but I won't take the rap for any of this, and neither should you.

The door swung open and two men brought in a table and one chair, soon after the general walked in,

    Morning boys smiled the general

Now let's start from the beginning.

They both began, at first, they did so individually, as Sean was taken out of the room first and then exchanged with Jose, then called in together

Well, well again the general smiled,

You two are actually free to go home.

Bring me Mr. Sharp and Mr. Wiseman and what's his face, their security officer called General Stork,

Barkley answered one of his personnel,

Ok, Barkley, get me him as well

The three walked into the room,

It seems to me that whoever made the security assignments is an asshole, and the three seemed stunned but kept quiet. The General continued, "They are, without a doubt, the worst security guards I have ever encountered", he then turned to Barkley, "I understand that you planned to promote Gose",

    That's Jose, Mr. Wiseman corrected,

    Whatever snapped General Stork?

Barkley, where did you do your training, how did you even land this position?  Barkley was just about to answer, but the General cut him short.

That was a rhetorical question, I know that you are Wiseman's son-in-law, both of you get out of my sight I want a word with Mr. Sharp here.

A lump grew in Sharp's throat, he sat down, "General, we have had our differences in the past, so I made
