    About the Author

    Dedication

It is only fitting I would dedicate this book to the finished work done on Calvary. Without Immanuel, Jesus the Christ’s unselfish act, reconciliation with God would not have been possible. Without reconciliation I would not have had the option to accept salvation, obtain the ability to renew my mind and change my sinful nature and have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Without the finished work of Calvary, I also would not have experienced true transformation. Because of my transformation God entrusted me, an earthly vessel, to be the surrogate that would bring forward this message.

    Mrs. Maxine Washington

I would be remiss if I failed to acknowledge Mrs. Maxine Washington, my son’s paternal grandmother.

As I shared in my dedication, this book is dedicated to the finished work done on Calvary. However, without someone sharing the good news I would not have been given the opportunity to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

When I met Mrs. Washington, I was a young, fifteen-year-old Catholic girl. I attended Mass every Sunday and would go and sit in church to feel close to God, especially when I was troubled. I said my rosaries, didn’t eat meat on Fridays, and sacrificed something meaningful during Lent. According to my understanding of what was required of me I was a good Catholic girl.

Mrs. Washington was Baptist. I had been to Baptist churches before with my family; however, I had no understanding of the difference between being Catholic and being Baptist. I was extremely naïve. I knew nothing about theology and I had never read the Bible.

I do not recall any discussion with Mrs. Washington about God or religion. This was not unusual for me because I believed my relationship with God was personal and private. I never talked about it. Mrs. Washington never said anything about me being Catholic back then, that I can recall.

Fast-forward thirty years and I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to read the Bible—not the Catholic missalette or the Catholic Bible, but the King James Version of the Holy Bible. Wow, was I shocked! I immersed myself in the Word and even joined a nondenominational word church! This is when I learned I needed to be baptized by water. So of course, I got baptized.

I was so excited that shortly
