PREFACIO
FOREWORD
Today is the 25th anniversary of my arrival in Guatemala, I have been studying and collecting some documents and pictures of the early Chinese immigrants for the last few years. Coming from far away on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, our ancestors maintained the traditional Chinese culture and customs. Through the harshest circumstances upon their arrival, they were flighting for survival with integrity and honesty to face the local people and their country. The objective of writing this book is to find out why they left their cherished homeland to migrate to Guatemala and to seek more information about their lifestyles once here in Guatemala. I hope that this book can give some insight for future generations and descendants.
