About this ebook

Flesh torn, bleeding out, bite marks.

This was no animal.

It was something more than that.

I need to solve this case.

I need to find out what did this.

It took an old friend.

Now I need to tell her daughter.

Except that Victoria's daughter is missing.

As someone who's lived here all his life, a sheriff of Mystique county, an old friend of Victoria, I am suspecting the pretty boy, Roman Kilani.

And he knows it.

Good.

I'll make him pay for what he's done.

Until I find out what really killed them...

    Vicious Shadow - E.L. Jones

    Chapter One

Robin Kilani eyed his two boys cautiously. It was a rare gift to have twin heirs that were both strong and competitive, but even though his wife was against it, he loved the competitive spirit behind his two boys and was excited whenever they decided to go up against each other.

Once again, they were here, another fight, another training to master skill and strength. Robin was not sure who it was going to be yet, but one of these boys was going to be the leader of the Kilani tribe soon and they had to be ready. It was no easy task leading the pack, and while he had been bestowed leader by inheritance, he had had to struggle and fight inner and outer wars that challenged his very being.

His goal was to ensure that the next Alpha didn’t have to struggle to find out who they were. It was his job to help his boys find their way. In the outskirts of their small village, miles away from any form of human life, the Kilani tribe had lived for thousands of years, he had grown up in this small village. They hunted for food and reproduced, and they had been living with plenty.

Be careful out there, boys, Eve shouted as Roman and Rowan glared at each other on the fighting plane.

Robin laughed. Don’t mind your mother, he said. Being strong has to do with dare and grit.

His wife gave him a cold look and he gulped. He was going to pay for that later. He distracted himself by watching his boys again.

Amanda and Eve glanced at each other. They both hated things like these. The rivalry between Roman and Rowan was getting toxic and Amanda didn’t get how father didn’t see that. She loved her brothers equally and she had no desire of leading the pack, but every other day, they were back here, either trying to see who was strongest, or practicing how to harness the wolf in them.

Neither of them had ever turned but father says it would take some time. Glancing at their mother, she knew Eve was worried, she always had been, but her brothers could handle it. They were both fifteen and she was twelve, but she was torn between her brother’s rivalry.

Everyone knew though that Roman was dad’s favorite, but Rowan was not going to take that lying down. He always wanted to prove himself despite how often he was beaten by Roman.

    Ready? Robin declared.

The boys took a fighting stance and Rowan kicked against the sand behind him like a bull about to strike.

What, is that supposed to scare me? Roman teased as he took his fighting stance.

We’ll see, Rowan said simply, fully concentrating on his brother. He looked like a focused person about to do serious damage.

Roman laughed. Please, I’ve beaten you every single time. What makes you think you will win this time?

I’m going to wipe that smug look off your face!

"Begin!’’ Robin shouted before Rowan could respond.

The slightly older brother began pacing around as soon as his father gave the word.

Go on, boys....find an opening. You are only as strong as your opponent’s weakness, Robin yelled.

Amanda and Eve rolled their eyes but neither of them could look away. While Eve understood that training was necessary, she felt that her husband pushed them a little too hard and fanned the flames of their rivalry. Roman was the first one out of her womb and that meant he was going to be the next Alpha by right, but the laws of the tribe states that the Alpha has to be the strongest seed of the pack leader.
