    Love Liberated - Francois Keyser

    Chapter 1

The old man breathed heavily as he lay in bed. His thoughts were on one person. Their past weighed heavily on his heart in these final hours. A past a father and daughter should never have. His caregivers tried to talk to him but he simply waved them away with the lift of a weak finger or by ignoring them.

They knew something troubled him. They also knew his days, if not hours were numbered. Finally, they surrendered to simply being present, hoping he would pass away in peace or at least share what it was that troubled him. Rumors about what it was that troubled him spread through the staff like wildfire but none spoke of it beyond the house. If it were true, they hoped the old man would speak before he passed.

A country away, guests arrived at a party in an ongoing stream. The sun’s warmth faded and its rays stretched longer. As it neared the horizon it clutched the earth in a desperate attempt to keep night at bay. A battle it would lose as it did every day.

Guards busily checked invitations against lists to ensure there were no gate crashers and making sure that the super VIP guests were not missed but welcomed as their status demanded.

One guest, not classified as super VIP, arrived. Those in the know knew she should be classified
