Digital Marketing Strategy
Imagine having a well-crafted digital marketing strategy that can help your construction company reach new customers and grow your business. By using online channels like website design, SEO, social media, and email marketing, you can reach more people than ever before.
Here are a few tips to help you get started.
Start With Your Website: Your Home Online
Your website is your home online. It’s the first place people will go to learn about your construction company. Make sure it’s designed well and easy to navigate. While you don’t need to have some modern art masterpiece for a website, you do need a few important pages like
● Your home page should give visitors a general overview of your company. Include a brief description of what you do, some of your recent projects, and how to get in touch with you
● A contact page with your phone number, email address, and social media links
● A services page that outlines the services you offer
● An about page that tells visitors more about your company, team, and history
● A portfolio of previous work, especially if your construction company does or includes visual work like landscaping, homebuilding, or interior design
If you don’t have a website, now is the time to invest in one. If you have a website, but it’s outdated, consider hiring a web designer to give it a facelift. Again, this doesn’t need to be a seasoned professional, but you don’t want your business’ website to be a freelancer’s first gig.
Find someone with a few years of experience who can give your website the look and feel it needs.
Additionally, make sure your website is mobile-friendly. For the most part, if your developer uses a modern framework or CMS (content management system, like WordPress), your website will show up well on mobile. If you’re unsure, ask your developer or designer.
SEO Brings in ‘Free’ Leads
Once your website is built and looking good, one powerful traffic source is SEO, or search engine optimization. Don’t worry, this doesn’t need to be as complicated as it sounds.
There are a few different types of traffic to your website:
● Organic: people who find you through a search engine like Google
● Paid: people who see your website because you’ve paid for an advertisement
● Referral: people who find you through a link from another website
● Social: people who find you through social media
● Email: people who find you because they’ve subscribed to your email list
For now, we’re going to focus on organic traffic. This is the traffic from a search engine like Google when someone types in a query and your website appear in the results.
SEO is the process of optimizing your website to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs), which will help you get more organic traffic. The higher you rank, the more people will see your website when they search for construction companies like yours.
To get started with SEO, there are a few things you can do (note that this is incredibly surface level and is not meant to serve as a comprehensive guide):
Use keyword-rich titles and descriptions: When someone searches for construction companies, they might type in something like construction companies near me.
A page on your website with the title Construction Company in Chattahoochee
will give you a better chance of ranking in the search results than if your title was Homepage.
Include keywords throughout your content: In addition to using keywords in your titles and descriptions, you should also use them throughout your website’s content. However, don’t go overboard with this, or you’ll risk being penalized by Google for keyword stuffing. Use keywords thoughtfully and sparingly.
Get listed in online directories: Google My Business is a great place to start. When people search for construction companies, your business will appear on a map with your contact information. If you have a Google My Business profile set up, your next step is to fill it out and start earning positive reviews from previous clients and customers. Reviews will help your rank locally.
There are other specific directories for construction companies, like The Blue Book Network. These will help you get found by people searching for construction companies in your area.
Link to your website from social media: If you have social media accounts for your business (and you should), make sure to include links to your website in your profile information. You can also share blog posts and other content from your website on social media, which will help drive traffic back to your site.
Start writing articles: This works better if you’re a national company but can also work well for local or regional construction companies. If you’re not sure what to write about, consider some of the following topics:
● How to choose a construction company
● The benefits of working with a construction company
● The difference between a good and bad construction company
● What to look for in a construction company
● 10 questions to ask
