    Introduction

    Higher speed, low latency, high capacity, and reliable communication; all of these combined with a coverage density of 1 million devices per square kilometer. The fifth generation of mobile data (5G) can revolutionize life as we know it and benefit several economic sectors and society as a whole.

    5G can be deployed, for example, in urban and rural areas, public and private companies, factories, transportation, and health and education sectors. With it, it is possible to connect everything and everyone in real time, to make smart cities and infrastructures come true, as well as autonomous vehicles and virtualizations through Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Extended Reality (XR), and Mixed Reality (MR).

    Three improvements enable such deployments:

    Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB): high transmission speed of end-user data and system capacity;

    Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communications (URLLC): reliable and instant communication between the network and devices;

    Massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC): connectivity for hundreds of thousands of Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

    Currently, several questions drive the acquisition of IoT devices, such as the need for higher energy efficiency, control improvement, and better user experience. Such equipment demands advanced
