DEDICATION
With much gratitude, appreciation, and unwavering love, I dedicate this book to Dr. J. A. Ansah, an anointed leader, a spiritual father, a prayer warrior, and a humble servant of the Lord. His dedication to the call of God and his love for family is worthy of emulation. Tongues cannot tell, nor can words describe how much Dr. Ansah has blessed and continues to bless my life.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
My deepest gratitude goes to my darling wife, Tonya, and my amazing sons, Scott and Daniel. Their loving support and encouragement motivated me to complete this book to honor a well-deserved spiritual leader.
I cannot say enough about my son, Asamoah Gyawu Amankwatia, Jr. He took precious time out of his busy schedule while a graduate student in China to offer helpful feedback and suggestions to make this project a reality.
Many thanks and gratitude to Dr. Jane Ansah, the lovely wife of Dr. Ansah and an anointed woman of God, for giving me a gracious nod of approval to dedicate this book to her husband.
Love and gratitude to Janet, Faith-Rose, and Michael for their gracious thoughts about the father they dearly love in the dedication section of the book.
Thanks to David Larbi and Mickeal Osei-Tutu for their precious reflections on their time with Dr. J. A. Ansah in Liberia.
INTRODUCTION
We are, perhaps, living in one of the most challenging times in the history of the Church and humanity. It is like a destructive tornado that has left debris of unprecedented spiritual and moral decay in its path.
Consequently, the culture's family and societal norms and values are RAPIDLY breaking down. With increasing spiritual blindness and moral rot, society has deleted purity and righteousness from its vocabulary, replacing them with a progressive mindset of everyone doing what is right in their own eyes (see Judges 17:6).
The intense social and political pressure is infringing upon the Church, the only hope of the dying culture, to succumb to the progressive concept of inclusivity by compromising and diluting the teaching of Scripture into a social gospel of salvation without Christ, faith that is independent of the Word of God, and forgiveness without repentance. In its compromise, the Church appears to want to go along to get along.
The sad reality is that many are groping in the dark, hoping for an anointed man or woman to rise to the occasion to shine the light of the Gospel in their space to show them the way out. Some wonder why the Church acts like it is impotent with no anointing to guide and usher the people of God out of the mess.
No wonder many ask today, Where are the Anointed Leaders and Shepherds to inspire and usher the Church and the nations into restoration and revival?
That is the panacea the Church and humanity need in these challenging times.
With the Leadership gap, the Church is experiencing a steady decline in membership and attendance. According to a recent Pew Research survey, the percentage of Americans professing Christianity will drop to between 54% and 35% of the population by the year 2050 from 90% in the 1990s. The Barna Foundation survey of pastors in America also showed that only about 37% percent of pastors and 12% of youth pastors have a biblical worldview. These are dangerous times.
The Good news is that God has often moved amid deteriorating spiritual and moral conditions in the culture to rain down an outpouring of His Spirit to revive His Church and transform the culture. God continues to do that, even today. Such were the spiritual, social, and moral conditions in England before the Wesleyan Revival:
The spiritual condition in England was said to have been deplorable, decadent, and a cesspool.
At the time, the formal and ritualistic Church of England was spiritually dead, and its priests did not preach the evangelical Gospel of salvation by grace through faith. Most Anglican priests did not believe in the Gospel but wholeheartedly embraced deism. According to church historians, it was impossible to determine if the priests were followers of Confucius, Mohammed, or Jesus from listening to the preaching of the priests.
Alcohol abuse was rampant, with every sixth house being a grogshop (a cheap bar where customers could get drunk on the equivalent of one penny).
Violent gangs roamed the streets with impunity, terrorizing anybody out after dark. They would disfigure people's faces with knives, stab people in the legs with swords, sexually assault women, and even murder.
Criminals multiplied and ran rampant while law enforcement was failing.
The slave trade was widespread and supported by the English aristocrats.
The English authorities sold tickets to watch public executions as though in a theater.
Under such dark conditions, the Lord moved upon young men like John Wesley and his brother Charles, and their friend, George Whitefield to awaken England and the nations - the Wesleyan Revivals in England and the First Great Awakening in America.
In over four decades of ministry, I have ministered to many Christians who do not know, understand, or believe they have the anointing nor realize that the Holy One has given them the right to exercise authority in His Name to curtail the powers of darkness. That has and continues to rob many of their calling and role in God's kingdom plan.
I entitled this book, Anointed Leadership, to awaken every born-again believer to the scriptural reality that you are not just ordinary people strolling the face of the earth. You have an anointing – an unction that abides within you because the Holy One came to indwell you in the New Birth (see 1 John 2:20, 27, Romans 8:9, and 2 Corinthians 1:21-22). I am not referring to the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
We must, therefore, see ourselves as anointed to take our rightful please as leaders (men and women) to impact our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and schools for the Lord. You are anointed and destined for great things for the Lord.
The unfortunate result is that the absence of Anointed Leadership creates a void that the enemy is too glad to fill. Prophet Ezekiel describes the lack of Anointed Leadership with the consequent loss of our spiritual bearings and reference points, saying, So my sheep have been scattered without a shepherd, and they are easy prey for any wild animal
(Ezekiel 34:5 NLT).
The outcry for Anointed Leadership to usher the people of God into a new dimension of spiritual release and intimacy with the Lord has never been louder. That is the heart cry and prayer of the faithful worldwide, whose spiritual antennas are sharp and sensitive to pick up the signals of demonic incursions beautifully packaged as a new social and political alignment: The Great Reset that is slowly engulfing humanity.
The question now is whether or not the Church today has the burning desire and the hunger to yield for the Spirit of God to infuse and raise leaders from within to usher His people into an awakening - genuine revival to quicken and transform the culture.
Such an infusion of the Holy Spirit birthed several global revivals, including the Wesley revivals, the Walsh and the Azusa Street revivals, which quickened the lukewarm Church and brought about spiritual, social, and political awakening in England, Wales, the United States, and around the world. In every revival, the Lord has raised ordinary folks who sought Him earnestly to lead during challenging times.
The people of God must cease the time to seek the Lord for empowerment to change the world through a demonstration of the power of the Gospel (see Mark 16:15-18). That would transcend denominational, racial, color, national, and ideological boundaries.
There are indications of sparks of a release of the Spirit in towns and cities in Africa, Asia, Australia, China, Japan, Russia, South America, and all across the globe. They point to an imminent unleashing of an outpouring of His Spirit on the Church. Our responsibility is to be ready and open to it. You could be the one the Lord would use to lead the next revival as an Anointed Leader.
The book highlights spiritual principles for Anointed Leadership that affords the people of God an extraordinary opportunity to examine and take their place in God's kingdom plan:
The challenges of the times stirring up an outcry for Anointed Leadership
Discuss the Church's current circumstances and the culture from Scripture, history, and current events.
The precious foundation casting stones for personal and national revival
Knowing the battle landscape in spiritual warfare and God's strategy for victory.
The Primacy of prayer in challenging times
Understanding and walking in the anointing
Steps to receiving more fresh fire
I pray that the Holy Spirit uses the scriptural principles and historical insights in Anointed Leadership to ignite a much deeper hunger for fresh fire to finish the race in the fullness of His anointing.

The Challenges Of Our Times
O LORD, I have heard the report about You and fear. O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years; In the midst of the years, make it known; In wrath [earnestly] remember compassion and love – Habakkuk 3:2
A destructive tornado had gone through the small town, causing great devastation. Gripped with fear amid the heavy winds, lightning, and thunder, the head teacher at the local Christian elementary school woke up wandering about his neighbors. Feeling helpless, he began to scream at the top of his voice, Is there any anointed leader in town to lead us out of this mess?
Suddenly, he turned to the sound of footsteps behind him and saw a five-foot stranger in a white robe who said, I am here to help.
He asked if he were an anointed man. The stranger replied, Yes, I am anointed and sent to help you.
The local head teacher said to the stranger, You are too little to be an anointed man.
With a gentle smile, the stranger assuredly replied, It is not by one's stature, strength, or looks; the anointing makes all the difference.
With a sigh of relief, he followed the stranger through the darkness to each damaged home. The anointed leader (the stranger) prayed for the wounded and the hurting, and they experienced immediate healing, recovery, and restoration. In the end, what was a bad situation turned into a joyous time of revival in the town. Yes, the anointing makes all the difference.
The cry for Anointed Leadership has gotten louder and louder as the destructive tornadoes of spiritual and moral decay ravage our world. As a result, many are praying in agreement with Prophet Habakkuk, O Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years, make it known; In wrath remember mercy
(Habakkuk 3:2).
The forces behind these destructive tornadoes would impede the mission of the Church if they could. The Lord spoke of the uncertainties of the times to the disciples in Matthew 24:4- 8. He, however, specified, saying, "But all these things must come
to pass, but the end is not yet come" (Matthew 24:6b).
If the end is not yet here, what is our responsibility as His Church here amid this darkness? We are to occupy till He comes (see Luke 19:13 KJV). If so, let us cease the time, put on our spiritual armor, and impact our communities with the power of the Gospel.
Moving forward, let us be mindful that, as people of faith, our spiritual foundation and roots in Christ, our legacy of faith through Him, our victory through the Cross, and His anointing on our lives demand that we do great things to impact our world for the Lord.
However, it sometimes feels like the forces of darkness are gaining the upper hand while the Church stands aloof and often seems oblivious to humanity's woes. As a result, people are gripped with fear and anxiety, looking everywhere and seeking answers in all the wrong places. Unless there is a visitation of the Spirit as promised by the Lord, humanity has little hope. Revival with Anointed Leadership is unquestionably needed.
In such challenging times, deceit replaces truth, and a new morality of sexual perversion becomes a substitute for holy living and righteousness. Some denominational leaders embrace those unrighteous behaviors, even though they contradict the Word of God. The Lord's remedy for such dark times is to open the heavens and rain His love upon us as we repent for forgiveness, healing, and restoration (see 2 Chronicles 7:14, Isaiah 1:18).
God never turns His back on His people, even in times of despair and moral degradation (see John 3:16,17, Luke 15:1-24). He desires to raise Anointed Leadership to usher His people into harmony and communion with Him. The Lord did that during the Welsh Revival under
