When you write as much as I do, sometimes you want to branch out, to try some different things, and generally see if you can do something you haven't done in the past. Or, you want to do something that doesn't quite fit in the rest of the body of work. And so, KayDee Sommers was born.

I've written a number of stories under that name, and it's time for them to come home and live alongside the rest of my stories. If you've never read KayDee's stories, now's your chance. If you have, these will be edited versions of the stories you read before.

I hope you enjoy them. I know I enjoyed their creation, and I am very pleased to present them to you as part of my library of writing. Happy reading!

I want to play a game, the voice said, issuing from the dingy speaker mounted to the corner of the cinderblock room. I want to see how you confront your greatest fears. Your greatest desires. Your greatest failings. There is only one rule. Make it to the exit. If you do, you are free to go. If not... You become a permanent resident, to do with as I see fit. You have one day. Twenty-four hours. Let the games begin.

    Gino

Gino swung his legs over the side of the cot he woke on, his head booming. The last thing he remembered he'd been at the club with Mike. He'd excused himself from the bar after spotting the redhead, the one with the short black skirt and her legs in black stockings, just low enough that he could spy the black band of the stocking tops peeking beneath the skirt. God, she had been hot, and he was struggling to remember if he'd even talked to her. Not that such things mattered at the moment.

He rose, supporting himself with a hand flat against the cinderblock wall, painted a dull light blue color that reminded Gino of hospitals. Or jails.

Where the hell are we? he asked no one.

The room he found himself in had only the cot, a thin mattress covering the springs and nothing more, and the speaker that woke him. There was a door in the wall opposite the cot, with a small window set into the top with dark wires crisscrossing the glass. He twisted the knob and found it was locked.

    Gino Carnetti, the voice said.

Who the hell are you?! Let me out of here!

All good things to those who wait, Gino. The voice was male, gravelly, but there was a hint of dark humor in it Gino didn't much care for. You have not asked the most important question. Why am I here?

Fine, you sick fuck, I'll play. Why am I here?

"Your father was married six times, a serial womanizer, and you, Gino, have followed in his footsteps. You have broken marriages and left women confused and berated by your use of them. You treat women as objects, Gino, toys for your pleasure. You feel no empathy for these women, and so you cannot be expected to understand how your poor behavior
