Some may be saved but still denied access to what is freely offered by the Lord Jesus Christ. Either their knowledge of the word of God is low or they, by choice, have taken the path of ignorance thus living in darkness. What you are about to read will throw more light on one of the most powerful blessings to man yet not fully explored or accessed for the good of many. Things That Accompany Salvation - Jesse Sackey

    CHAPTER 1

    SALVATION

    - A PACKAGE

ne day something really caught my attention after having read it several times before then. It was the phrase things that accompany salvation.

"But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and THINGS THAT ACCOMPANY SALVATION, though

    we thus speak."- (Hebrews 6:9).

I believe the Lord wanted me to notice something very essential that will bless us all. I realized that  salvation is a package and not just a simple thing. Salvation is about the most essential thing relating to any human being upon the face of the earth and it is the most important thing to God our creator too. I realized it is deeper and it has more involved than we probably think and so I began to look at a

few other translations of the same text. Some of them read: better things that belong to your salvation (Good News Bible). The Living Bible says good fruit that comes along with your salvation. The New American Bible says better things that relate to your salvation and things that belong to your salvation (Revised Standard Version).

From these translations, we must understand that salvation is not just receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour or a ‘way’ to join a church. Again, neither is it a means only to get to Heaven. Salvation comes along with much more; THINGS that ACCOMPANY or ARE RELATED TO or BELONG TO our Salvation.

I believe as we look into what things accompany salvation, the Lord will help us through the Holy Spirit to better appreciate this precious gift which we receive through Christ Jesus. It will also give us access to the fullness of a saved life and the blessings thereof. They help us know who we really are when we are saved and what we possess as children of God, not only in the life to come but in the present also.

    WHAT IS SALVATION?

So what is salvation? It is amazing how people have coined their own definitions of salvation and this is the work of Satan to keep people away from it. For some, it is doing good or being moral or of good character that saves you. Others see it as joining a church, or following a certain religion or practicing some rituals, or it is following some dogmas that saves a person. Some others also think it is God who would decide when we die and ‘arrive at the gates’. Yet

    THINGS THAT ACCOMPANY SALVATION

more others think our ‘good’ deeds will be weighed against our ‘bad’ ones to determine our salvation. But none of these leads to salvation or will ever be. Salvation is the free gift of God to mankind. You can never work for it.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - ( John 3:16).

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - (Romans 6:23).

For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. - (Ephesians 2:8).

Thanks be to God for His unspeakable free gift.- (2 Corinthians 9:15).

Now, how can you receive this salvation? God Himself has given the key: repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Be willing to turn from your sins and your old ways. Be prepared from your heart to surrender your life to Jesus Christ to be the Lord over you and to live for Him. That is when salvation comes to you.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. - (Romans 10:9-19).

    CHAPTER 2

    MERCY

ne of the foremost components of salvation is mercy. Mercy is a form of love, especially directed to the unworthy. And this is the nature of God.

He is the initiator. He chose to show us mercy. No one ever qualified for mercy in the first place. We all are sinners concluded under judgment by a righteous God.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

But what we did not deserve, God chose to extend it to us by His love because He is the God of all mercies. Mercy is in Him because He knows how frail man is. If God were to look at our awful lives, our wickedness and lack of fear of Him, none of us will be alive. Have you ever considered the many who curse God to His face, who blaspheme His

Name? He has power to snuff out their breath in just a second but no, He rather shows mercy.

And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle? - ( Jonah 4:11).

If you should hear the testimony of many of those who have been saved, you will wonder why God will receive such. But wait, do not go far, look into your own case. Has He not shown you the same mercy? Do you think you were good enough for God to overstep you and not deal with you? Certainly, the answer is no! Is it not amazing how we forget how we were? But that is God. He is merciful and therefore shows mercy.

For You, Lord, are good and ready to forgive, and rich in mercy to all those who call on You. - (Psalm 86:5).

But  the  mercy of  Jehovah is  from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness is to sons of sons. - (Psalm 103:17).

Realize beloved, that when you believe and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour, it is mercy that gave you entrance into salvation, the mercy of God, a loving father.

There are some also who cannot receive God’s mercy in relation to their past or what they still do wrong. Please receive mercy because it is part of the salvation package. He forgave us and still is willing to, if we repent of our wrong doing. Forgive yourself because He did, and enjoy the mercies of God.

    THINGS THAT ACCOMPANY SALVATION

It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. - (Lamentations 3:22-23).

Yes, God is a God of judgment but He also tempers His judgment with mercy. Otherwise, who will survive? Even before we came to Christ, mercy was already in place for us, else how could we have made it till now?

There is nothing we can do to put us into the good books of God outside of mercy. What can you do to attract the mercies of God except that He Himself is merciful? Mercy comes from Him and He has proved Himself beyond every reasonable doubt to this evil world that He possesses mercy and will give it if we repent. May we receive it.

Sometimes, the reason we cannot receive mercy is because of our refusal to show mercy to others. I realize from the scriptures that mercy not extended to others cannot be received. If we are saved or have come to Christ and are not willing to show mercy to others, we cannot enjoy the same even if it is offered us. It is because we feel guilty and know we do not deserve it.

Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

    - (Luke 6:36).

"For he who has shown no mercy shall
