A Note For the Readers
This book started out as a booklet. It is still available for purchase called ‘Ten Ways to Market Your Book For Free’.
I have been gaining more knowledge about the different digital marketing techniques for myself and my clients. I want to assist each of my fellow authors who are published or not, to learn more about ‘branding themselves and their books’.
There is much to learn about becoming a published author and taking command of your own book business. There are a lot of free resources available as well as some expensive ones. I hope to provide my readers and all my fellow writers enough information to help you get started.
In the back of the book there will be some links to my website which contain a wealth of FREE Bonus information, digital and print forms, and other items to help you along your book business branding journey.
Thanks for purchasing my book and please sign-up for my newsletter to keep up with all the great ways we have discovered to gain more followers and purchasers of our stories.
Introduction
Hello everyone. My name is Jolene MacFadden. I am a blogger, website designer, social media coordinator, published author and owner of several websites. This includes the North Florida Writers Tour where I feature published writers who live and/or work in the North Florida area. What the Heck Is Branding Anyway?
In its simplest terms, Branding is a marketing term: ‘Brand, a name, logo, slogan, and/or design scheme associated with a product or service’ This comes from WIKI.
It is the same on any online dictionary that you search. Put another way, ‘Branding is the process of creating a strong, positive perception of a company, its products or services in the customer's mind by combining such elements as logo, design, mission statement, and a consistent theme throughout all marketing communications’.
Everyone is worried about setting up their ‘Brand’ or being consistent with their ‘Branding’ when they create social media pages and websites. Since your writing is your business, it really is up to you to choose the color schemes, font styles, and any logos you create so that each is reflective the image of yourself and your books you wish to present to the world.
You can use the font styles and some colors in every post that you create. You will have the added burden of trying to stick closely to the styles associated with the genres in which you publish as well.
Keep in mind that people of all ages will need to be able to read any posts and messages. Try to stick to fonts that are not too artistic and colors that more people can distinguish. Check out the following:

Book Information Pages
As part of your first marketing step, you will need to keep handy certain information about each of your books. One straightforward way to do that is to create an information sheet with the following information.
Letter Description automatically generated with medium confidenceAnother suggestion would be to have a folder on your cloud or hard drive entitled with your books name or simply ‘My Books’ and create Notepad TXT document of all the information, website and social media links and any other pertinent information for each book.
The reason for the text document (book1.txt) is that it does not hold any formatting only text. Word and PDF documents contain coding in the background of the file that gets attached to your letters
Sometimes the other types of documents have formatting codes attached to the words or paragraph that
