    Reflections - Jerrel E Wolfe

    Reaching For The Stars

    This poet is quite humbled

    by words spoken here

How many lives that have been touched

    how many stopped to hear

    The rhyme and the meter

    both have come to life

In the mastery of the pieces

    I write for you tonight

    It’s you my faithful followers

    who look into this site

    Inspire me with your comments

    such uplifting words you write

    With you as my backbone

    I venture forth from here

    publish and produce this book

    it’s all not very clear

You say I have the talent

my words have received much praise

    Labeled masterpieces by your pens

my hopes and skills you’ve raised

Now as I write this book

I need you all you see

    You are my inspiration

    my steadfast tall oak tree

I’ve been said to be the new blood

a storied poet of such rhyme

My name will stand with noted poets

    till the end of time

    I’m trusting in your wisdom

    its what’s inspired me

    To leap into the future

    this realm of poetry

    Abandoned

It was but a simple delivery

to a rest home by the bay

A place to house the elderly

    and folks just thrown away

And thereupon that wrap around porch

    ...sitting in a chair

An aged woman with so much grace

    and beautiful silver hair

I asked her if she knew a lady

    named Clara Hatterly

She said, "Why yes I do young man

she sits down there... I’m one hundred three."

Each wrinkle on her smiling face

    had a story to tell

    And I a recent retiree

could see it all so well

The masted ships moved serenely by

as we peered out toward the bay

She asked me to sit down a spell

and pass the time of day

    Suddenly it came over me

    a sense ‘ner felt before

    Those flowered daily deliveries

    didn’t mean much anymore

She smiled and said quite warmly

    "I appreciate your time,

The Lord will call me home tonight

    my children I can’t find."

"They thought I was a burden

my needs they could not meet

They left me here ten years ago

and walked off down the street."

"Oh Johnny was a good boy

he played ball when he went to school

    And Patty was a hairdresser

    ...worked harder than a mule."

"You know they really are good kids

just so busy don’t you know

They said they’d come to see me

...that was about three Christmas ago."

    ...Twas then
