About this ebook

Based on real events that happened in Afghanistan in 2018 and in 2021. "Just a Child," is a young adult fiction story about thirteen-year-old Zaafirah Sadiki's ordinary world being upheaved and devastated as insurgents terrorize her small village in Afghanistan. On this horrific night she and her mother face obstacles that will test their mental strength, bring their bond closer and represent the symbolic importance of family. Will Zaafirah and her mother make it to the mosque in time for safety, or, will her freedom be ripped away? Together, this daughter and mother tell a story of heartbreak and resilience. All characters are fictional; the seriousness of the regional tragedies brought upon civilians is not.
