About this ebook

Harlow

They say life isn't fair and during the course of my life, I've found that to be beyond true. Years ago, my old man and I faced an unimaginable heartbreak when tragedy struck the club. The devastation of that day has kept me from giving him the one thing we both long for—children to call our own.

Despite the loss of our unborn child, getting involved in a project with my sister, Harlee, and being able to assist those the world calls throwaways has helped ease the burden my soul carries. She's been the rock in my crazy world, my older sister who I've shared everything with and the one who sheltered me from the harsh realities we faced when we were in foster care.

So, when she calls and asks me to come, I never expect the news I receive.

Bane

Next to Harlow, the love of my life, my club is my priority. While it's not a good time for her to be away, when war comes knocking on our doors, I'm glad she's not here because the thought of losing her is something I'm unwilling to chance. But when the men I sent with her as protection call and tell me I'm needed, I waste no time getting to my old lady's side, only to have news laid at my feet that nearly lay me low.

But Twisted Iron is family and as Harlee tells us her wishes and we set out to make them happen, my brothers and their old ladies rally around us both toward a future that we're dreading.

The holidays are full of magic and miracles and this year, they're tinged with sadness and heartbreak. Will Harlee's gift to Bane and Harlow mend their shattered hearts? Or will it drive them apart?

    Harlow's Miracle - Kayce Kyle

    Prologue

    Harlow

Sitting on this plane as it gets ready to taxi, my mind drifts back to the baby boy I lost all of those years ago. In one tragic night I lost everything I held near and dear to my heart… other than Bane and the brothers that survived that is. One man’s malicious actions, his need to be top dog and rule the region stole my best friend and child. I’ve used my grief as a way to reach out to the underprivileged children.

The kids who live on the streets, begging for scraps of food to fill their rumbling stomach. Just last month I saved a fourteen-year-old boy from offering the use of his body for pocket cash. What I see as just enough money to purchase a package of gum and a soda could be a lifeline for these children who are referred to as throwaways.

The one word when described to me made me violently ill and set me on a course and mission to save as many of them as I could.

    Throwaways.

Disgusting, whereas I’m one who would’ve done anything to have the opportunity to raise my child, and others take that for granted and toss them aside like yesterday’s trash. Those are the parents who deserve to have everything taken from them. I’m working with a group of men and women who are trying to get a bill passed into law that if you toss your child out of your house before they’re of legal age, you have to pay them a monthly living stipend. As far as we’re concerned, if you birthed them, you are morally, legally and financially obligated to care for them until they are able to stand on their own two feet.

For some that’s eighteen, for others it’s longer. We want them to be able to continue getting their education and have the opportunity to go to college if they so desire. As the plane secures itself and is getting ready for passengers to depart, my heart begins to rapidly beat in my chest. When my sister called asking for my assistance with these two kids, I immediately agreed, even though Bane didn’t agree with my decision. Stretch and Shade are accompanying me; they reach up and grab my carry on for me and usher me down the aisle. One in front of me and the other in the rear. I’m being protected all the way around. My man was so concerned about me heading out of town during this impending war for the club, but my heart was calling out to me, telling me that I needed to do this. Therefore, I have not one escort, but two.

Unlike the other old ladies, I’ve been a part of club life longer than they have. I no longer get my panties in a twist when I’m given protection, instead, I shrug it off and go on about my business. I learned a long time ago there’s no use in crying and throwing a temper tantrum. At the end of the day, I’ll still lose the fight. I’d rather win the battle anyways.

Bane called ahead and has a rental waiting for us to be picked up, Shade informs me.

My man, always thinking ahead, I state with a smile forming on my lips.

Nothing wrong with a man wanting to take care of his woman, Stretch supplies, smiling back at me.

One day you’ll find that special woman, I insist, which has him furiously shaking his head.

Not gonna happen, not anytime soon anyways. I’m enjoying sharing and spreading my love, he jokingly informs me.

And sexually transmitted diseases, I jest, causing a look of horror to coat his face.

Bite your tongue, woman. He does a full body shudder which has Shade cracking up.

She’s got you there, man. Shade continues to banter with his club brother as we walk off of the plane. We quickly get through the departure area and grab our bags from the luggage terminal.

Once we have the keys in hand for our rental car, I give Shade the address as we settle into the SUV that was chosen by Bane. Leave it up to my old man to pick the biggest, toughest vehicle they have on the lot. I shoot off a quick text to Bane and let him know that we not only arrived safely, but are now on the way to my sister’s house.

Thanksgiving is just a few short weeks away and then the Christmas frenzy begins. The most magical time of the year they say, but that’s not true for me… it’s a day that I take two hours away from my family and place a small Christmas tree on my son's grave. It’s time that he and I spend with just one another. I tried taking Bane with me once, but it was too hard on my man. He may be stone-cold with others, but my man becomes an emotional wreck whenever he sees our son’s headstone.

I close my eyes and allow the soft rocking of the car to lull me to sleep on the way to our destination.

    Bane

A piece of me is upset that Harlow took off to care for these kids, the other part of me, however, is grateful that she’s not here. There’s an impending war heading our way, and after the losses the club’s already suffered, I’m grateful that she’s as far away from here as she can be. We’ve been in meeting after meeting the past couple of days, so I wouldn’t have had much time to spend with her anyhow.

Gunner has been a visitor here along with his club as we come up with a plan that will unanimously be voted on by both MCs, hopefully removing the Death Destructorz from our lives permanently. With Thanksgiving and then Christmas right around the corner; I’d like this to be done and over with. I want to enjoy the holidays with my woman without these fuckers and their impending actions hanging over our heads.

Harlow is accompanied by two of our most trusted, recently patched in members. And, while I’d rather she be far away from this mess,
